I've been playing the PC Modern Warfare 2 since the first night, and the amount of cheats in it are really disappointing. Some people are already several epic levels into the game because they can kill people they're not aiming at and then use a nuke to end the match. It really takes the fun out of it, I quit servers that have obvious hackers as soon as possible.

Something seriously needs to be done about it so they disappear.

Oh how I hate when people hack competitive games. I never have and will never use a hack since it just takes the fun out of it for me. I do remember all the hackers in the old rainbow 6 days. I had the most fun back then smacking hackers down left and right to only be accused of hacking myself. In my mind that was always the highest honor to get booted for hacking when I wasnt.

Damn cheats. If to gather these one man armies, show them what it took to get a low enough latency with all the people gathered to interact, the man hours...I guess its my humble 1998 point of view. I quit playing because of cheats. I hope they conquer. computing is more powerful, and getting better. Cheats is not about cheating to me, cheats is killing the greatest gaming invention in the history of mankind...may as well rob someones credit card point blank.

Finally they did something about it. I got so sick of cheaters in the first 2 weeks i was about to write a lengthy report about why MW2 should cost 10$, and no more. Since we have no admins and no servers we are on the aim botters/ hackers mercy.

MW2 Sold Five ( 5 ) Million copies In it's first week, it slaughtered Madden and every other title hands down. 2500 is only about .5 of one percent of the users. I am glad that Microsoft and the software companys are finally cracking down on these cheats. Good Job!

STEAM SUCKS!!!

I've boycotted all games that use steam. I don't cheat on my games, I just hate steam, it has ruined to many experiences for me, like MW2 where you couldn't play the game for days after release. companies need to stop using this piss poor service.

...and then the companies will move on to other things after the next major release in a few months and the hackers will roam free...once again...much like everything Valve handles anyways...

It's good that they are banning people, but of course if they had allowed for dedicated servers then players could go to their favorite servers and know that cheating bastards would be banned by the admin. Instead, we are just trusting Valve to deliver a cheat free experience. We'll see how that goes.

I always love how people pay so much for a game only to cheat and get banned from playing it online. And in the case of MW2 the single player is really short so you pretty much paid for a useless game. Way to go geniuses.

There's no substitute for admins. Yes they can sometimes upset people, but provided you stick by the rules then by and large they run a fair game and do what they can to keep cheating and poor play to a minimum.

I was a server admin on Bf2 and caught many hackers using Pb screenshots that Punkbuster couldn't automatically detect automatically. Without this, your simply at the mercy of the hackers.

I should have said also, that one of the things that really gets me is to why hackers are given 2nd chances. All bans should be hardware based and they should be global from all online games from all manufacturers. Make these people pay through the pocket for cheating by having to change their pc. Don't simply let them come back onto other games or in the sequel to the one they were banned from. Sales aren't going to suffer because only a very small percentage cheat and if anything more people will buy and play games if cheating is eliminated.

Assuming that they actually paid for the game. I'm pretty sure pirating the game isn't that much more difficult than running hacks with it. I don't think steam bans via IP either, so I would venture a guess that the vast majority of these hackers probably pirated the game on a new steam account, which means they will simply have to create another account and install it again, and they'll be back ruining matches that people are forced to join.

how could they know if they are hacking or not?!? i been banned from at least 25 servers on mw1 for simply being too good. i could understand aimbots which are constant head shots but besides that how can one really tell?

lul

stupid kids these days cant play without any cheats....

Vac permanently bans whoever it catches. It bans there Steam ID from that game all together. So if the hacker wanted to play the game again they would have to setup another steamid and buy md2 again.

I would say that Punkbuster and VAC are about the same tbh. The only thing I don't like VAC for is that they banned innocent people who were playing on esea. They did however unban everyone but it was quiet eye opening on how someone can be perma banned from the game on accident. Im sure there are cases for Punkbuster doing this but I havent played a punkbuster game in a while.

[citation][nom]itadakimasu[/nom]if i ask for this for christmas only to land on a server w\ a bunch of hacking 12 year olds... ima be pissed.i don't want to get it on ps3 because FPS are much better on PC... so the idea of not being able to kick or ban hackers is a little troublesome.[/citation]

"Ima be pissed"???

Roflol

Do the world a favor and stay away from pc gaming entirely.

I guess I'm not the only one who caught the Raiders of the Lost Ark/Family Guy reference then. 😉

Brian: So what happened to James Woods?
Peter: He's being examined by top men.
Brian: Who?
Peter: Top. Men.

Just last night I was in a game with someone using a speed hack. The guy was easily twice as fast as everyone else in the game.
Nothing I could do but leave the server. While this game is really good for the most part. The hackers will kill this game eventually unless IW changes their stance on dedicated servers and basic admin abilities.
2,500 is a nice start, but it's a very small fraction of actual cheaters. Without the ability to remove people cheating from games. People will eventually get fed up and stop playing MW2.
