2.8Ghz @ 3.6Ghz vs 3.6Ghz

So let me ask you this.

When you overclock a P4 2.8Ghz LGA 775 to 3.6Ghz, will it perform the same as a exact core but factory 3.6Ghz processor?

Anyone ever tried to do this comparison?

I think tomshardware should do this kind of experiment.

It should perform little better, since you will be running your OC'ed P4 higher at higher FSB than factory 3.6 GHz processor.

He's right, it should perform a little better. Overclocking is limited by how far the CPU will go, not performance.

Tomshardware isn't promoting or recommending overclocking, so you'll just have to keep your eye on sites like anandtech, pcstats, extremeoverclocking, and such sites that does.

The higher FSB and higher mem frequency(hopefully more bandwidth) should give you an edge over the 3.6Ghz at stock speeds.
