Hey,

So i have a AMD barton 2800+ 333mhz FSB cpu and 1 gb of dual channel pc3200 ddr400 ram. I run them on a ASUS a7n8x deluxe motherboard.

I've had nothig but problems trying to run my cpu and ram at 3000+/400mhz or 3200+/400mhz ... anyone have any ideas on what i should try or do? I'm running the latest asus bios (1007) and have updated the drivers recently again.

Any help would be great! Thanks so much in advance!

Jim

You could BUY a 3000+ or a 3200+.
I'm just kidding...how are you trying to bump it up w/ multiplier or FSB? What KIND of RAM...brand wise. I'm guessing that's your problem, but without knowing what you have it's hard to say. Also, did you increase the voltage at all? Something to look at.
You said "having troubles" does your OS load? What OS? Do you get BSOD?

quick question, i have a defective a7n8x and my CPU (xp2800+) What FSB, and Multiplier settings did you use for the xp2800+?

Asus A7N8X Deluxe
80gb Maxtor
200gb WD 8mb cache..
Lian-Li PC-60
LiteOn 52X/LiteOn 811s DVD-RW
AMD XP2800+
LeadTek GF4Ti4200 128mb
Hitachi CML174
1GB Corsair XMS PC3200

IIRC, you have a very rare 2.25 GHz "T-bred" AXP 2800+.

Your Multiplier x FSB should be = 13.5 x 166

What revision mobo do you have? Many of the 1.04 and 1.06 revision boards have a hard time with the fsb above 180 or so. Some extra cooling aimed at the north bridge and the vregs may help.

He could try 12.5 @ 180 but he will overheat my wife's Unlocked 2800+ Barton runs fine at 12.5 @ 179 but cant hold 180 it crashes out of graphics games at 180 game simply closes to the desktop no error.

She has 2 512MB Corsair PC 3200 sticks DDR 400 memory running in DUAL Channel.

Other then that she got a new CPU Cooler high end around 50 bucks she said she paid for it a good Thermaltake job and I bolted in a few more intake and exhaust fans but she cant hold a 180 only the 179 but it just seems silly to me.

Even lowering the ram time's from 7,2,2,2.5 to 8.3.3.2.5 does not allow the 180 so its not the ram folding it is the CPU.

She has a wonderful Enermax high end power supply and all the voltage readings are solid as a rock too. I am so tempted to plug a 2500+ Barton unlocked we have lying around I would never give away just to see how it would function but just the thought of redoing all the thermal past and messing with ESD shy me away from it.

We have another bit of spare parts lying around as soon as I get another extra power supply I will throw the 2500+ into the box and crank it up. Thinking a small game server application for that 2500+ just as a little experiment.

We are currently running well over T1 speeds here on the cable connection at 2147 Kbps, T1 is around 1,500 so it will be fun to muck-up a XP 2500+ server for 20 players just to see how it functions or for that matter how long it's up before the ISP calls me 😉
