I have a 2-3 yr old Micron (x86 family 6 Model 5 Stepping 2 - whatever that translates to) I need to add a second drive for !much! more MP3 capacity. I've been looking at the 160M Maxtor (4G160J8) because it's big and cheap per bit. Can I just hook it up to the motherboard IDE controller (WD) or do I need another controller. Before you suggest it, I don't think I'm up to a MB change. Thanks

At this point you will need a ATA133 controller or I've heard they are starting to make motherboards with ATA133 controllers.

Other then that if you use it on the motherboard you have now you will only see 127GB, because of the LBA limitation. Check MaxtorDirect for an ATA133 controller (Cost is $80.00 US), or look for the Promise Ultra133. Same card basically.
