Question 3800x Upgrade/Questions

Hi guys, currently running a i5 4690k (Oc to 4.6Ghz) and a GTX 1080 Ti. I currently game on 1440P 144hz and my CPU has been limiting my gpu in a lot of my games now. I play a lot of Battlefield, Rainbow 6, Far cry, The Witcher, do you think a 3800x is a good enough upgrade? I am wondering what the best ram and motherboard combo for performance and overclocking would be for a Ryzen 3800x? My max MOBO budget is around $250 and ram is around $200. Thanks!

ok so first of all forget the 3800X.
3800x is more expensive and has "zero" performance gains considering the 3700x proce diference.
With this said, now it all dependes on the amount of cash you are willing to spend....
I own a MSI X570 Meg Ace +3900x and is a stupendous MOBO with a current control i have "never" but it all depends on you.
You have lower cheaper boards wich are very good also....the MSI PRO Carbon is really good also...but in that range i would go for the gigabyte x570 ultra etc....for X570 right now there are two brands....Gigabyte and MSI...Asus is the weakest one so far...
