I thought this was going to be help until the bagging came in LOL good stuff

with that kind of money you could get:
1. 52inch plasma or whatever big gaming TV
2. playstation 3 with all the bells and whistles and awsome steering wheel and jet sim controller
3. bunch of games
4. blue-ray player
5. A second 40 inch LCD tv for your HD player
6. second hand sofa to sit in front of it all
7. a case of beer and large pizza to celebrate all that you bought

or

a single gaming computer which will be worth a third or less of what you paid for it in a years time.

You are gonna be a lot better off if you Spend $2,000 now on a decent gaming rig and 22" monitor and $2,000 3 years from now. Put your $2,000 in a high intrest savings account that you cant touch for a year and do that every year until you can't stand your system.

I did not see any comments on the quality of Gigabyte motherboards. Do they actually make good Intel boards? So far in machines that I have built with them they have about a 60% death rate. Then again that is for Amd, I have not used Gigabyte of Intel.
I don't see a problem with this pricing on a PC. Sure it could be a bit excessive to some, but it would not be all bad if it was a present of a sort. I would only put $2000 in on a good machine, maybe even $1400 with the way that it looks that prices are going to change. This summer it is expected that Quad Core Intels will be priced at about what a Dual core costs today. But if you are always looking into the future you will never buy anything. I had the money to build my self a good one a few months ago, but I waited. In doing so I wasted the money on other things.
$4000 for those parts would almost be overkill though, you can find them for cheaper I am sure. But 16 year old get $4000 machine is not bad considering I just built a $1400( well if the parts were not on sale it would have been closer to ~$2200) one for a 10 year old. It was a former teacher that asked me to build this. I guess that it is a good thing that it impressed him because I get to build another in the summer for him.

For my 16th birthday I got a machine that would have been roughly that price(the OP's). It was awesome, and still does fair. I guess if you can get it, go for it. I wouldn't, nor would many of us on the forums. But you are going to do what you want in the end.

On a side note, I wish I could steal the server from my dads work... $40000, 4 quad cores, 20GB of ram, 2 PCI-Ex slots. I think that could easily be a gaming machine. Too bad nothing would ever use that type of power. lol

Hey guys, I've been gone for a couple of days...

And I talked to my dads Comp Tech friend yesterday, He did give me some advice on which to choose than give almost same power or speed but cost less. So I've taken some though, and to answer some of your questions. I will be updating, probably OS, and Video card in near future.

Ummm... Yea Im not going to argue about this anymore, Im going to get the Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9650, I want a 45nm processor, and a Intel Extreme Edition (quad-core). I will overclock it slightly, to 3.5ghz.

Dont get upset or call me stupid, or greedy... But I am going to go with DDR3, lemme tell you why, I looked at the DDR3/DDR2 charts and sometimes DDR3 wins sometimes DDR2 wins, but most of the time DDR3 took the lead. I belive that DDR3 will be a great choice with QX9650.

I will and Iam taking in some though to make my system $1,000 cheaper, and will upgrade in the future.

And someone asked me what car I drive, if u must kno... I drive a 2007 Infinity G35 coupe, with vertical doors, and modified for speed. (I will have vetical doors on every car I own, Lamborghini wanabe)

But car isnt the problem here is the computer, I will talk to you guys again tomorrow.

And Thank You for helping me I guess go the better way?

THANX

"modified for speed" - I look forward to seeing it on www.wreckedexotics.com

Back on topic, I'm glad you're making an intelligent decision. (Edit: On the computer, namely)

2007 Infiniti G35 coupe

See the difference, blind guy? (no offense to blind people)

Edit: And I was implying you're irresponsible and will someday total your car daddy bought you.

rofl it is definitly Infiniti....... btw I like vertical doors on cars too just I can never afford it since I'm too busy paying for other stuff such as a GF or gas or my college fund which I suggest you should put money into instead of so much in your car and pc

You too paying for a GF? Wow, I thought I was the only one. Yea, yea, yea I got a wife. But what she don't know won't hurt her. :sol:

I doth think his mommy and daddy spend way too much money on him.

I forgot in to ask why you would use these components. According to you these parts are used in Dells and the such, so why would you want them?

Also, just to let you know, Dell and Alienware do not use these components. Also Dell and Alienware are the same company now.

IMO anything more than 2k on a build is such a little performance gain its stupid to buy a 4k comp and have it outperformed by comps for 1k next year save your money and just keep buying new stuff when it comes out if you really want to spend that money. Also the Samsung 226bw is the ****.

These components are used in all gaming computer companies... (HP Blackbird, Alienware, XPS....)

and ummm... what you said above did not make sense??? :na:

This is what you said:

These parts (components) are used in Dells and the such, so why would you want them.... THAN YOU SAID...
Dell and Alienware do not use these components.

OK>>> First you say they use them than you say they dont... HUH :pfff:

To everyone who has helpped me, gave me solutions, and such I thank you guys.

When I first started researching in September for a new computer especialy one for just gaming.

I wanted everything of the best, Even though I will be doing some modifying changes, It will help me save a grand.

I am glad I came to these forums, It brought sense into me. People this whole time have been saying how I get almost the exact same performance for hundreds less.

I will not be paying for my college/university education, Im guessing you guys would know...

Iam not an "extreme gamer" I play games on my free time for fun not as an addiction. No more than 3 hours a day. But this does not mean I dont want good picture quality.

I have a couple of more questions...

What would you recemmend for me:

Mouse -
Keyboard -
Mouse Pad -
Monitor -
Internet/Virus Protection -

THANKX
