i wont waste ur time. but the best way is to go to any pc shop. when choosing cpu/ram/mobo/gfx/psu/harddisk/opticaldrive/casing just make sure to get the most expensive one. n that how u buy system for 4k.

Tell us what software and games you plan on playing. Also , are there any games coming out that you plan to get ?

I am sure if we know what games/software you will use there are benchmarks for those particular apps that will prove what hardware is best for your need.

How true, how true.

But, I don't think he has "discovered" girls as of yet.

You indicated you wanted your system to run smooth in 3yrs or so. Whatever games you play smooth today will run smooth in 3yrs, but no one can predict what games will be out in 3 yrs or what their requirements will be Likely, there is no hardware out today that will run some of the games that are developed 3 yrs from now, that's called technology. If you understand that, then we can all probably get on the same page in helping you. Build a system that can play crysis at maximum levels (probably the most demanding game today) and you will be good to go for the foreseeable future.

I think you missed the point of 45nm.

1. Runs cooler -> better OC
2. Scalable in the future
3. Lower power usage-> better cooling

See
http://www.tomshardware.com/2007/11/27/intel_core_2_extreme_qx9770/

This technology eventually comes to the mainstream

Whoa! Are you trying to say a $4000 gaming rig won't help him score the chicks? That's crazy talk... I am positive any guys at his LAN party would want to stroke his rig though... The PC that is.

I guess I will upgrade components in my pc If I have to, So the answer is now yes, I will upgrade in future.

I do not know what games are coming out in future. Iam interested in FPS.

Games; Battlefield 2, Soldier Front, Command and Conquer 3, Wolfensiten: ET, and some other games.

Software?

OK. It's your money, build, requirements and decision. Let's see if we can summarize where you are based on your posts.

1. No Vista - XP 64 bit only.

2. Mem must be Corsair dominator or XMS

3. Intel core 2, you seem to be leaning to QX9650

4. PSU no less than 1000w

5. 22" monitor

6. Thermal Tower case

7. Fastest HD available - no raid

8. You want SLI and 45nm, but aren't sure your willing to wait for the new board.
You need to make this decision before any advice can be given

9. You want DDR2 and DDR3 capability in MB - very limiting factors today

10. You would prefer Gigabyte MB

11. Your last decision on a build was

I've decided....

I wont be overclocking so I wont need liquid cooling.

I wont be upgrading any components in the future.

CPU - Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9650
MOBO - Gigabyte GA-X38-DQ6
GRAPHIC - BFG Nvidia 8800 Ultra
RAM - 2x Corsair Dominator (2x 1Gb) DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) 3-4-3-9
SOUND - Creative Sound Blaster Fata1ity Platinum
PSU - 1000W Thermaltake ToughPower
OS - Windows XP Professional 64-Bit
HDD - Western Digital Raptor X 150Gb, 10,000RPM, 16Mb Cache
STORAGE - HITACHI Ultrastar 750Gb, 7,200RPM, 32Mb cache
CASE - Thermaltake Armor Series Full Tower Silver

Wich Ram/Memory would you get?

A: Would you get 3-4-3-9 and 800MHz?

OR
B: Would you get 5-5-5-15 and 1066MHz?

Are you happy with that build? If so, you only have a memory question remaining.

You did indicate you might upgrade later after all. Is that still true?

Are your restrictions based on your research or do they come from your builder assistant. If he is more comfortable working on those components, that might be pertinent.

I am not one to recommend components, I don't have any experience in the many varietys except what is in my build and what I've read reviews on. I leave that up to those knowledable at this site. If you can verify the above facts you have stated (or update them of any changes) and answer the questions, maybe people can stop beating you up, answer your specific questions, and we can be done with this thread. There are no perfect, correct answers, everyone has a preference for one reason or another. At some point, you need to make the final decision.

Viewsonic makes some good gaming monitors, never had a single problem with mine.. I've played all the latest games on it... I know alot of the readers are complaining about your waste of money, I think it's just relative to what you have.. If I made 300k a year I might drop 3k on a machine and not blink.. If my parents were rich I doubt I would complain either.. I would say that when I first bought a computer in '99 I wanted the latest and greatest.. I now by stuff that is about 6 months past, depending on the year and the tech.. I dont blame you for wanting a high end mobo or graphics card, but spending wads on "new" ram unless your LT. Commander Data, you will never be able to notice a difference unelss you maybe get load times 1 sec faster. Good luck with your build, Ill be following you soon..

Well, he's now been convinced that he MAY need to do some upgrading in the future to keep things "current".
Maybe he'll now start considering that he will need to run Vista 64 bit sometime in the future for the new smooth games he wants - XP 64 bit won't cut it forever :)

Nicely chosen. 8800gt's in sli are definately the best bang for your buck for one of the best cards out there..

Eh? What you going on about? I think you missed the point of my post as I didnt say anything contary to the points in your post..

There is no doubt it is a more advanced technology, rather my point was that it is not cost effective currently to base your system on a 45nm processor.

Why do u want to run XP 64 for gaming? There only couple of games that runs under XP 64, and not many software compatible. U might want to wait for 8800 GTS ver2 on Dec 3, according to reviews it says this card are faster than gtx for $299.

Boy am I glad I didn't get involved in this thread. I've never seen someone so rebellious when others try to help him. What's the point of asking for advice when he decides to rebel against suggestions? Count me out...you guys can handle this...lol

Same as kamrooz, i trying too to build up a new rig but when people come to me with great idea i just dont turn them back. 2 options here, he is not buying a rig at all,i have the biggest one syndrom or he buyed his 4k$ rig and in 5 months come back crying because a 2k$ rig kick his 4k$ rig ass. This is the first post i read on this forum but not the first forum i visit and i can tell you guys that you have a lot of patience.

Have a nice day

Last thing, if you dont have made your choice with 7 pages of great ideas then why you dont ask you daddy friend tech, he will help you out as he will be the one that will put the rig together. Those people giving you very good advice, if you dont want them then do it as you want and goooooooooooooo burn your money and stop wasting time of TH community that can be better spent on other topic of people that really need help

My 2 cent

If he is a tech guy, why are you asking us then. :pfff:
You claim that you do not like windows vista(you claim it sucks) :non: , then why do you need a 8800 series video card, the main reason for the 8800's is to run DX10. But you want to run windows XP pro then get a 7 series video card.
Do some research on google, their is a wealth of info out there, and their is even "howto's" on computer building. But spending 4 grand on a computer system is just NOT SMART. :??:
I could spend $1400 on a gaming system, and it will be not much slower than the one you want, and it will still be good for a least 3 years to boot! :kaola:
no im not one that is envy of your 4 grand dream system, if i like i could spend 10-16 grand and not blink an eye, but i did not fall off of a stupid truck going down the dirt road either. :pt1cable:
I'm not here to put you down, even if you(parents) had money like paris hilton, i would say the same thing................. "$4000 + computer = not smart"! But good luck on what you do, their was a few people on here with good advice, but it seems like that you have you mind set. But maybe one day, if and when you fly the coupe, you just might learn the value of a dollar. .....good luck............

I got some more recognision YAY at least it comes from some... just not the OP

Did the OP recognize anyone...hmmm...maybe I missed it... :sarcastic:

Ditto...

Spend $2000 for my services and I'll build you a $2000 computer for $800 bucks!
