Question 4gb RAM not supporting

Facing a peculiar issue. I have a old Intel 965 board with core 2 duo processor. It running fine with 2 gb DDR2 800mhz stick. I managed a 1gb DDR2 667 mhz stick from a frnd n installed it in the board. Its runs fine. Just underclocked in 667mhz. But now i managed an other 2x2gb DDR2 800mhz ram from a frnd. When i installed it in my pc my pc became extremely slow. Taking long time in boot screen ..not going further. This thing happening just when i increase the ram more than 3 gb. After 4gb it getting slower. Everything is fine in bios. All ram is detected n every slot of the motherboard. But its just not working with 4 gb. I have 4 slot. N as i remember it supports upto 16gb. Then w8 wrong with this 4 gb. Plz help gyz.

Mixing RAM sticks often does not work.

The only guarantee is buying a full set in the size and speed you want.

Are they a kit or sticks sold separately? This is important.

Have you removed all other RAM when trying this 2x2gb?

They came as a kit/set. N i didnt mixed them with other ram. Later i mixed. But in all cases result was same. Its not loading windows.

Yap.. n in every single slot they work fine..

Suggests there is a fault, can you return the 2x2gb set?

Its working fine in other pc.. no issue there. Its running fine there since 4 yr now. I dont think its ram issue. Specially in this 2. But yes my pc not working ok with them.

I ran into a similar problem when I had a board with DDR2 memory, there is low density and high density (Cheaper for the Ram makers) and my board would run with high density 1GB modules but they had to be low density for the 2GB modules. What is the brand & model of your board, I might be able to recommend some
