[SOLVED] 5600X VS 3600

So I was looking forward to getting the 5600X for $299 USD ($420 AUD) But it ended being $470 AUD (IDK why but it is)

I was kind of disappointed and looked at benchmarks at 1080p and found that the 3600 loses about 9fps to the 5600X with a RTX 2080ti meanwhile I'll be getting the RTX 3060TI which'll be similar to more like the RTX 2080 so is this the way to go? $140 AUD less for probably a couple of fps?

If this is not the case please explain other benefits from the 5600X that the 3600 does not.

I thought I might give Zen 3 a chance but when I read about the $50 price hikes across the board, I scrapped that idea at least until I see what happens with Rocket Lake.

I'd say at this point if you're gonna go ZEN 3 you might as well get their GPU as well considering that they're supposed to work together better than an AMD/Nvidia combo.

What's the rush? You're not getting a 3000 GPU anytime soon anyway.

If you are building a entirely new system then you could go for the 5600X and ill also recommend you to wait as even in my country the 5600x is sold for $384 so the prices will definitely come down imo. However the fact is the value 3600 gives at its price is just awesome.

Nah I'd Like to think so but Australia's weird they always do this like for RTX 3070 it's 499 usd (720 aud) But NOPE its $809 (nvidia's site btw)

ahhhh not sure it works like that. an amd cpu with an amd gpu has no performance increase whatsoever and in Australia it's quite easy to get the 30 series but im still waing for the 3060TI

Benchmarks show, that 5000 series is about 20% faster in everything -compared to 3000 series. And that's a lot of difference if you do "serious" work on PC!
Expensive, huh? Yeah, is not really cheap even at MSRP. Wait few months and your patience will be rewarded -that's what I will do 🆒

Well, the main reason most people consider newer (and often more expensive these days) CPUs is for extra performance. If ~20% extra performance does not seem to be worth it to you, don't buy it. I personally cannot get excited about upgrades smaller than 100% for a given price, so I'm still using an i5-3470.

The 5600x is the same price as the 3600x...given the large FPS increase in gaming it's shocking the price wasn't raised. The uplift in gaming alone is more than enough for me, forget about the fact that it's cooler running and uses less power...I will be moving from 3600 to 5600x as soon as they are in stock.

Supposedly, with a new Ryzen 5000 series CPU AND a new RX 6000 series GPU you can enable Smart Access Memory. According to AMD, SAM gives a gaming FPS boost of 5-11%.
We really need to wait and see what independent, 3rd parties show in their reviews though.
