I received some 72 pin ram but I am unsure how to determine what type, how much, speed, etc.? Is there a way to read the serial numbers to identify what type of RAM it is?

Thanks

Do you have access to an old 486 with 72 pin sims? This is the easiest way to check dimm size. 486 arichtecure allows you to only have one stick in, unlike the pentiums which require 2 identically sized sticks. The speed should usually be the last two numbers on the individual sims either -60 or -70.

A little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing!
