I am upgrading from a 1200p monitor to a 1440p monitor. I was considering getting two 7970s to power it. However, is it worth getting two 7970s when the new gen is coming? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I would wait too. I currently have a single 7870 for 2560x1440 and it does good in everything I play. Unless you really want to spend ~$800 on gpus right now.
