Hey guys, recently I popped into a gamestop and they had a games for windows PC hooked up displaying Heroes of Might and Magic. I forgot how much I enjoyed playing strategy and RTS games on a PC so I thought I'd do a little research to find out how much it would cost to built a decent new one. I'm not trying to go top of the line, play every FPS with maxed out settings but I am interested in being able to play oblivion and most FPS with near the best settings. After doing some research I stumbled across this thread at tomshardware.com :
http://www.tomshardware.com/2007/01/18/overclocking-guide-part-1/index.html
It looks like overclocking is the way to go! Additionally, I am interested in getting a flat panel monitor and selected one based on random reviews.
So, with all the introduction aside, I would have to say my budget is right around $1000 but can be flexible if necessary.
As of right now, I'm currently going from the guide above which consists of:
CPU:

$167
3D Card:

Motherboard:

$125
Monitor:

$199
RAM:
Ram used in guide, not available so no clue here!
Case:
No clue! Have a few spare cases though or can order one.
How to keep it quiet:
No clue!
Please give me a little guidance, as you can tell I'm thoroughly lost and behind the times! Thanks!
