A7N8X-E and cable ground

I'm going to use Antec round IDE cables for my hard drives and I see
that the cables have a ground wire on the drive side.

There is no place to attach the ground on the Antec Sonata case. The
ground lead could be attached to the screw that holds the drive in the
drive tray but I'm not sure that is the right thing to do.

The alternative is to drill a hole in an appropriate location on the
case -- or do I forget about it?

Obviously, anywhere on the case (the screw that hols the drive will work).

Are you sure you have the cable the right way round? The ground wire
on the Antech cable I have is on the M/B connector and I have attached
it to the M/B mounting screw next to the IDE sockets on the M/B

You probably won't need it. I suspect that it is the shield ground
connection, which shouldn't be connected at both ends. Many of the
older drives actually have a spade lug on their chassis for just that
purpose. If you have a convenient chassis screw terminal to connect it
to, then do it, but I think you'll be OK without it.

I installed it that way originally thinking grounding that way was
logical, but found that the connectors could not reach the drives in
that configuration.

No convenient place to connect it unless I drill a hole in the
neighborhood of the drive cage. Not inclined to do that, so I am just
going to ignore it.

Maybe someone will suggest Gorilla glue!!!
