I didnt know where to post this, but i got told to come here to ask. Not sure if this fits the category but here it is, I want to upgrade my acer aspire T160 MB70
I want to upgrade the
Ram
Graphics card
CPU
And have built in wifi
Well for a start can I do this with my pc? It has an AMD athlon 64 3400 mother board.
So here's the purpose of this pc, to play games, mainly l4d 1&2 and crysis all in the highest quality (ok maybe not crysis, but I want to play it in medium at least)
So heres my idea
A raedon 5770 graphics card
amd athlon ii x4 640 quad core processor
Is that ok for what I'm doing? And what power supply would you recommend?
And 4-6gb ram
Is this all possible? What could I get that's better? But I would like to keep it cheap.
Thanks :)

It would make more sense just to get a new mobo, case and PSU as well.
How about:

Hi mate
the biggest problem you will encounter when upgrading a acer pc is the motherboard... these are manufactured by acer and their features are as basic as you can get... there are no overclocking features in the bios and theres limited support for the components
however its not impossible... a few years ago i upgraded my wifes acer aspire T671 and i removed the motherboard fitting it in a gaming case without any problems.... then i moved over the rest of the components and fitted a pci-express based graphics card in the shape of the radeon HD2600xt......
i also replaced the stock cooler which was beginning to sound like concorde.... and i also need to replace the acer 250w power supply which obviously was no good for the graphic card ( which required a 400w psu )
allthough you can continue to use your acer case you will need to replace the power supply, and if you want to use the radeon HD5770 a 450w psu will be required with at least 26A on the +12v rail
in regards to your processor you will need to contact acer and discover if your motherboard will support the athlon II x4 640 .. allthough your motherboard supports the socket AM2 designation this does not mean it can support all new AMD processors....
you may only need to update the bios for full processor support... however its still best to check with acer support to confirm cpu compatibility
in regards to the ram you also need to check what memory your motherboard supports.... theres a good chance the acer aspire T160 supports ddr2 memory... however check at http://www.crucial.com/ and run the "Crucial Memory Advisor™ tool" which will scan your system and report what memory is best for your motherboard... also it will show the maximum amount of memory your motherboard can support
all these upgrades wont be cheap.... however here are some links to the cheapest components i have found
1) AMD Athlon II X4 Quad Core 640 3.0GHz (Socket AM3) Processor - Retail ( http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/CPUs+/+Processors/AMD+Athlon+II/AMD+Athlon+II+X4+Quad+Core+640+3.0GHz+(Socket+AM3)+Processor+-+Retail+?productId=41209 )
2) Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card ( http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Graphics+Cards/ATI+5700+Series/Sapphire+ATI+Radeon+HD+5770+1024MB+GDDR5+PCI-Express+Graphics+Card+?productId=38199 )
3) OCZ StealthXStream 2 500W Power Supply ( http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Power+Supplies/650W+or+less/OCZ+StealthXStream+2+500W+Power+Supply+?productId=40958 )
4) 4GB Corsair Memory (2x2GB) XMS2 DDR2 PC2-6400 (800) Dual Channel Desktop ( http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Memory/DDR2+-+PC2-6400/4GB+Corsair+Memory+(2x2GB)+XMS2+DDR2+PC2-6400+(800)+Dual+Channel+Desktop+?productId=36960 )
these are good brands however ive kept the prices low... for example the OCZ stealthstream 500w psu is a excellent power supply providing stable voltages..... and the corsair xms2 memory is one of the best modules you can buy
finally if you have any compatibility problems with your current motherboard the it might be worth upgrading your motheboard... for example the "Asus M4A78LT-M LE AMD 760G (Socket AM3) DDR3 PCI-Express Motherboard"( http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Motherboards/AMD+AM3+(700+Chipset)/Asus+M4A78LT-M+LE+AMD+760G+(Socket+AM3)+DDR3+PCI-Express+Motherboard+?productId=40622 ) is just over £40 and fully supports all the latest AMD processors
alternatively why not buy the "Novatech Motherboard Bundle - AMD Phenom II Quad Core 965 - 4GB DDR3 1333Mhz - AMD 880 Motherboard"( http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/prods/motherboardbundles/Novatech/MBB-965884.html ) .... this may be expensive however for that you get one of the best phenom processors, a good am3 motherboard and 4gb of ddr3 memory clocked at 1333mhz...... and its all been tested before delivery....
i hope this has helped, any problems let me know
good luck !

Thanks for all of the links. But I still have a few questions, will the raedon 5770 fit in the Asus M4A78LT-M LE AMD 760G (Socket AM3) DDR3 PCI-Express motherboard? And what case would you recommend for this? (again still as cheap as possible and not big, I hate big stuff) also what wifi is good for this, internal wifi and once again cheap please :)
