[citation][nom]datawrecker[/nom]Consoles are and always will lack in the multiplayer arena. Undercutting how many players can join is a huge let down. Image how much fun Halo 3 would have been with 64 players in a team deathmatch. The rain of plasma nades streaking across the sky. That would have been fun. People act like 18 players is a big deal...its not. It is only one more person per team compared to the average matchmaking setup. To a PC gamer that is just one more round from the clip.[/citation]
Ha, wat a joke. I have news for you, a ps3 game is the one coming out that can support 250 people in one match. Consols are making a strong comeback.

They've got to be kidding. "Not as friendly as the consoles have been" Well if friendly is holding your hand through everything and making sure you can only choose 'whats best for you'. Then yes, the console is more friendly. HOWEVER! I see 'friendly' as allowing you to make your own choices such as server size, dedicated or not, ability to change settings through console, and the pleasure of not getting back stabbed after you bring a game series to what it is today. Thank you IW, and F*** that.

I see this as a really bad precedent. While I see this will work fine for most casual gamers, it is death for clans. We rely on dedicated servers for recruiting. Regular players become members (depending on how your clan is set up). With no dedicated servers, there will be no regulars to recruit from, no recruits + natural attrition = clan death. We recruit very carefully only after really getting to know someone in-game and via ventrillo and forums, I just don't see how this will ever work with this new setup.

I do LOVE that some other games are reacting to this news by coming out and saying YES, we will continue supporting our PC Gamers with dedicated servers. Lets look at the new BF game perhaps, but definitely do not support this ugly precedent if you value online competitive gaming.

The number of players that will pirate this game are going to be obnoxious. The number of xbox pirates is jumping at an alarming rate which as far as I'm concerned is great because it proves that it's not just pc users that get blacklisted as pirates, although with this game I think pc downloads will be extraordinarily high.....I would bet money that because they chose to not include dedi support and all this other bad news that has turned so many pc users off to this game that it will end up being the most pirated pc game of all time.

LOL... WHAT???

"One of the problems with our PC SKUs in the past is that it has not been as friendly a consumer experience in terms of matchmaking and online play
as the consoles have allowed it to be,"

So, console are better online systems? I really hope that everyone who want to play the game will use file sharing and not actual copy bought in a video game store. I am sorry, but this is the most stupid answer I could expect from a game developer... he sounds like an xbox fanboy.

It's because of companies like Activision that our only pure DX10 game is Crysis.

They want to stop pirates from stealing, when pirates have better games to download, they will save their bandwidth more than a legit player will save his money.

Now they actually came out with a new one, no lean. That is the final nail in the coffin. No lean, might as well go play Quake.

I just hope Modern Warfare 2 is a HUGE flop for them all together. Unfortunately, I'm afraid there are enough folks out there who pay no attention to gaming news and won't have any idea what's coming. They'll buy the game anyhow, and Activision will make their money.

Here's to hoping they cry like babies though. I really hope it's a financial crisis for them when serious gamers refuse to buy the game.

But there are many, many, many more computers than consoles. Consoles are a small niche for the super casual gamer. Who wants to spend a crap load of money on a console and HD TV when you already have a computer and monitor?

Without a good MP I cant justify spending the $65 for this game. I highly doubt the single player campaign will take longer then 6 hrs, so that is over $10 an hour. That is movie theater money, ticket and drink/food!

I will probably just rent it off gamefly in a couple months when they send me another free trial spam mail. It will suck not being on the pc but then im not spending $65 for a 6hr single player campaign!

Im just curious, but why is leaning and consol such a big deal too the pc users? The only time Ive truly used the consol for in my pc games where too tweek my settings a little (fps and such), but there might be better settings in the menu for this kind of stuff (no idea what they have done), and too kick/ban players which IW has some kind of plan for that if I remember correctly.

As for leaning, did the orginal MW even have it? (I remeber playing the demo on pc, but I do not remember a lean function).

How the hell are you going to argue the pc's problem and then say you are going too rent the game? You can not rent for the pc, and if you mean rent for the box/ps then why are you complaining about the multiplayer!?

"We're, of course, watching this very carefully and paying attention to it, But we're not overly concerned about it."

They are making a HUGE mistake with this. They are destroying their true fan base, and it will not only effect this game, but future releases by infinity ward.

I wonder how Activision's decision will impact computer manufacturers. I was going to use this game as an excuse to buy a completely new rig.

Perhaps it's time for them to get out of the entertainment business altogether if their sole interest lies in sales numbers and nothing for product or the people they are trying to entertain.

Activision and IW should all be locked in a room for a decade with nothing to play but PONG.

What they are doing seems so crazy and their statements seem so clueless about gaming, I am truly befuddled. I mean these guys run huge companies, how could they be this stupid and clueless, they are walking away from millions and millions of dollars of profit. And there competitors are acting likes it a feeding frenzy. I see games like ArmA2 and BF:BC really taking off and if anything concentrating more on PC Gaming. IW is dead in my eyes, and it is really too bad.

"But we're not overly concerned about it."...Of course they are going to say they are not worried about it-he is talking to a financial analyst. He doesn't want to scare away potential shareholders or cause existing ones to dump their stock, because that would lower the value of the company. The analyst who covers the company was trying to assess the situation so he can give a proper recommendation as to buy, sell, or hold, and Activision sure as hell isn't going to give him a reason to say sell when they have their biggest release of the year just about to hit shelves...

As an owner of all 3 major consoles, as well as desktop and laptop PC's, You can count me out for at least 'THREE' "LEGAL" purchases. As well as the ones I would typically buy for my brother and my father as I have throughout the COD series, and even back into the MOH series. That's 5 lost sales. Congrats.

I honestly didn't consider consoles as gaming. More like a continuation of Super Mario

Yes just like pong, and all of the first video games werent games....just because they started everything....

There are too many bads in the world. Companies are catering to casuals. Are there that many bad PC players whining about it to justify such drastic changes in traditional PC gaming? I do not think so.

Don't worry IW, your game will still fail regardless of if you think you are making good changes or not.

PC Gamers = the only type of gaming.

Console gaming is a watered-down joke. Do you really like playing on old technology, terrible controls, bad graphics, low 1080p resolutions, and zero third-party support?
