Hello,

I have DSL via ethernet on my Mac through a Westell 6100 series modem/router, which also has a USB port. Is it possible to share my Internet connection, preferably via a cable not wireless, with a PC laptop by using the USB port (with an ethernet adaptor), or by splitting my present ethernet connection?

You can share the connection -- just attach a cheap 4 or 5 port switch from the LAN connection to an LAN connection on the switch and then plug the MAC and PC into two of the other LAN ports on the switch. You cannot use an adapter on the USB port to make the connection. This one works fine and is $13, just plug into X1, X2, and X3 -- i.e. forget the uplink port: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833166034

Solution
I bought the hub switch, which was half price on sale, and have it set up with the primary Mac computer. I haven't yet connected the PC to the switch. Am trying to do it on the quiet as a surprise for my 90 year old husband who is frustrated with the speed of his old dial-up. I don't foresee any problems, so thank you for all your help.
