Hi guys I'm planning to add another 4GB of ram on my desktop coz i only have 3GB of it and uh what do i need to look at on buying RAM and which is compatible for me?

I have gateway GT5662 Computer and tried to search for upgrading my ram and this is what i got http://www.memorystock.com/memory/GatewayGT5662.html

I guess its saying that my RAM slots has been occupied with 2 512MB RAM and 2 1GB RAM and it says its removable, so removing 512MB Ram and change it with 4GB ram would be the best idea? And i thought i have DDR3 but it says in the site that i have DDR2. If i have a DDR2, then this one will not work? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231313&nm_mc=EMC-IGNEFL010612&cm_mmc=EMC-IGNEFL010612-_-EMC-010612-Index-_-DesktopMemory-_-20231313-L0F

Any help would be grealty appreciated.

Edit: I tried crucial.com to scan my system and I found out that i can only put up to 4GB of ram (max). Kind of disappointed though lol

Your computer will only support 4Gb of DDR2 667 also called PC 5300. Since you already have 3GB I really do not think it is worth it to upgrade. You would have to buy 2 x 1GB sticks and take out the 2 x 512MB sticks. It would be a cheap upgrade but you would probably see no real performance gain from it.

If you do upgrade then know that you can only use one 1GB stick of RAM in each of your 4 RAM slots. Buying a 2GB stick or any stick larger than 1GB will not work, so you can not just buy one 4GB stick for instance.

You can also use DDR2 800 also called PC 6400 as it is backwards compatible. It will however run at the slower speed of 667 due to your motherboard.
