Hello,
This is my first time i am posting something on forums as i am really stuck T_T
Description
I do photos, music and video editing.
I have upgraded GPU for video editing and starting having random restarts, they are more frequent during load but can happen during watching YouTube.
I have overclocked CPU because In music DAW's everything holds on single core power so i need to have it maxed out.
Full build and specs at the bottom but first here is description of the whole journey.
ROUND 1
-I have recently upgraded GPU from ZOTAC GTX 1650 4GB to MSI VENTUS OC RTX3060 12gb DUAL FAN
-However system was restarting very quickly, less than 5 mins when running heavy render, I checked temps and noticed CPU package jumping to 90 degrees Celsius going very quickly during render.
ROUND 2
-I returned MSI Ventus
-I decided to upgrade case and cooling and managed to keep my temps at 50-70 degrees during load.
ROUND 3
- Saved money and got RTX 3060 Gigabyte Eagle 12gb.
- The problem stayed but became much less frequent.
3 ROUND
-I came to conclusion that this is PSU lacking (i have overclocked i5-11600kf to 4.8 ghz all cores) and decided upgrade from tx650m to used tx850m PSU.
-The problem stayed, i came to conclusion that it might be that this PSU was faulty and got new RMX850m problem stayed
ROUND 4
-I returned GIGABYTE 3060 EAGLE 12g (it had faulty fan) and got 3060 MSI Gaming X Trio, seems like problem became more frequent
- Then i started questioning my logic and tried RM1000x to be sure it is not PSU --> problem stayed.
5 ROUND
I am returning 3060 MSI GAMING X TRIO and getting ASUS 3060 to make sure that Gaming X TRIO is not faulty and checking if problem will become less frequent with dual fan GPU.
I guess you are having a giggle at this point and thats ok, i am quite new to overclocking and PC building
Here is my latest setup
Case: Fractal Torrent
Operating System & Version: WINDOWS 10
MOBO: ASUS PRO ART Z490
PSU: Corsair RM850x
CPU: Intel i5-11600KF
Running with AI suite overclocking at max 4.8ghz, COre Voltage is 1.3 during load rarely jumping to 1.487 v
GPU: ZOTAC 1650 4GB - runs stably with no issues under highest loads
Memory: 3 SATA SSDS, 1 HD and 2 M.2 drives
RAM: 2x16gb KINGSTON DDR4 3200 + 2x A-DATA TECHNOLOGY 8gb DDR3000
CASE Cooling: 2x 180mm Fractal front intake fans , 3x 140mm p14ARGB intake Arctic Fans., 140mm Exhaust be quiet silent wings 4
CPU Cooling: Noctua NHd15 with 2 140mm stock fans.
Things i tried :
Findings:
- This is not faulty or lacking PSU
- This is not faulty of lacking GPU
- Temps are great, CPU 50-70 during load, GPU 40-60 degrees during load
- Problem happens during first 30 mins when running non stop a heavy video editing project with load jumping to 100% and randomly,
- And 2 - 5 times a day when doing something less demanding like music production or watching youtube.
- Restarting does not happen at all when i put my old GTX 1650 (which does not need PCIE cable, runs entirely on MOBO) back with the same 100% utilisation.
My next moves and assumptions:
1. I assume that somehow RTX 3060 12gb is making my OC CPU unstable, if problem continues with the new ASUS card i will try to manually set voltage to 1.35 and set all cores 4.7 ghz
2. I assume that somehow my RAM is more utilised and these extra 2x8gb ram is making OC unstable as it runs on 1494 MHZ while other 2x16gb running at 1600MHZ (according to HWINFO)

Things i tried :
- Swapping 3 different GPU's
- Swapping 650w --> 850w --> 1000w PSU
- Temps are 20-30 idle, 50 - 75 max load with medium fan use
- Using DDU to clean install drivers from safe mode
- Swapping PCIE cables, running with 2 cables instead of one when GPU required.#
- Trying to plug PSU cable into wall socked rather then extension hub.

- This is not faulty or lacking PSU
- This is not faulty of lacking GPU
