Question Aggressive display flickering during gaming

Please keep it to 1 thread.
Hi everyone,

I have no idea if this issue is related to my laptop GPU, monitor cable or the monitor itself so I am posting this everywhere it might be relevant.
My monitor is set up at 240hz and sometimes during gaming (no matter the game), the images start to flicker aggressively while the screen goes off and on for several times.

It happens until the monitor disconnects for some seconds and when it turns on again, the max refresh rate is 144hz. It is 144hz instead
of 240hz in all settings (both in Windows advanced display settings and Nvidia control panel). Everywhere it shows 144hz. To reset the
monitor so it could show again 240hz, all I need to do is just turn off and on it again. After that, 240hz option appears again. Also, the glitches seem to be gone for a period after that.

The warranties for my monitor and laptop are still active and I want to know which one is causing this problem. The cable I am using is a
display port one that 100% supports 240hz refresh rate for my resolutions.

I uploaded two videos recorded by my iphone that show this strange behavior. In case you cannot access the links, I also uploaded two
images from the videos as well.

Hey I suspect it’s the cable (the standards are different or it can’t handle 240hz) but just ensure you have all the latest drivers installed and also if you could try a different cable/port and see if the issue persists.
Hope this helps!

The issue happens so rarely that even if I change the cable, monitor, or laptop, it will take weeks or perhaps months to conclude 100% the issue is not happening anymore. So, a right-now solution would be preferable.

My cable is DP 1.2 which can handle 240hz at 1080p up to 1440p and I update the drivers regularly.
However, thanks for the suggestion. I will buy at one point a new cable anyways as it is not expensive and see what happens long term.
