OK, it's upgrade time soon. Here are my current Specs:

Asus A7V600
Athlon XP 2100
Asus Radeon 9600xt
512MB PC2100 RAM (no-name brand!!)

I plan on getting an Athlon 64 3200, and 1GB of PC3200 ram

The tough decision is the Motherboard. I know that I will be getting a socket939 motherboard. However, I can't decide on whether I should go with a PCIe option, or an AGP option. If I can at all help it, I would like to hold off as long as I can with my current Video Card. I know it isn't the greatest, but It should be respecatble in most games for a while. So for this reason, I would go with an AGP. but, I also know that I will want to eventually upgrade my video card as well, and I worry that upgrading to another AGP card in 6-12 months may not be worth it, and I'd have to buy another Motherboard just for my video card.

Possible Motherboard Choices are:
For AGP
- A8V Deluxe
- K8N Neo2

For PCIe
- A8N SLi-Deluxe
- K8N Diamond NForce4 SLi

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Their will probably still be excellent agp cards in 12 months, so that's probably won'y be an issue. If you're happy with your current card and you want to save money then by all means. I think ultimately at this point all that pci-e can claim over agp is SLI which is quite expensive and not really worth it for MOST people IMO. It's really just a decision you're gonna have to make

I'll agree with Wraithfire. Ati and nvidia have bothe released thier high end cards in Agp. If you get an 850PE in a year or two, you will be fine. Even an x800xl will be available in agp soon.

Thanks for your input guys. I guess that's what I'll go with then. (didnt realize that all those high-end cards were coming for AGP) :)

Any thoughts on my choice between the Asus or the MSI? Or suggestions for some other board entirely.

Even the yet to be released R520 is supposed to come in AGP.

Np. It's like I said, get what you think will be the most useful. Personally, I opted for pci-e. Since I'm completety rebuilding my system, I decided to go for the new standard and be done with it. It's ok for me, since I'm spending a lot of money anyways, it wasn't that much more to go pci-e.
