Hello forum, long time lurker. I have an old Alienware laptop, R2 17 with i7 CPU and Nvidia dedicated Graphics card, 1TB hard drive and 250SSD. I recently reinstalled windows onto it and boot it up for installing programs, but everything is incredibly slow. I managed to install one program, but decided I didn't need it and went to uninstall it. Not only could I not uninstall it because it was taking so long, but even opening control panel took longer than it ever should.
At the moment it is a brand new install with one program (Steam) on it, and it runs like a snail. I don't remember it ever being this slow in the past, I used to game on it regularly and it could handle everything I would throw at it with consistent ease.
I thought i'd come here and get a little bit of info, could it really be slow from being old or could there be something else happening? If I can't get it to run properly then i'm going to trade it in.
