hi
I need to change my graphic card and i dont really know witch one. I want to put vhs movies into mpeg(best quality possible) and i want to be able to play to Doom3 too(medium quality). I was thinking to buy the ATI Radeon AIW 9800Pro 128Mb but i dont know if it is a good choice for my needs. I have a Msi k8n neo platium so that mobo only takes graphic cards of 1.5V. Does the 9800pro has 1.5V of power? If you could help me on my choice it would be apreciate.
thanks

I am a Slipknot fan.

AIW cards have medium recording quality, if you want the best recording quality I'd recommend going with a higher end solution like a WinPVR card from Hauppauge. Of course there are even better solutions, but they're probably out of your price range.

Don't get me started on Doom 3, but if you're looking for a happy medium between both worlds, I would say you'd be satisfied with the 9800 AiW. Although I don't have the AiW, I do have the 9800 XT 256MB card and it does okay with D3 and the AiW is centered around the 9800 card. You won't get anywhere near the framerates you would in UT2003/4, but to play D3 at 25-30 FPS at 1600x1200 AND be able to capture video on the side (at what I read to be a max capture res of only 720x480) is mediocre. However, with 128MB ram on the AiW you will experience frequent caching pauses in Doom 3, but not enough to throw the whole idea out of the "happy medium" range.
