Amd 3200 motherboard

I was told that my bios chip was bad and I should buy a new motherboard.
Do I need to buy the same or a compatible to retrieve my data from the hard drive
and without having to buy new everything. My chipset is "K8M800 + VT8237R. My cpu is a AMD Athlon 3200+.

You won't find a true new board. 754 is very old; if you don't like the prices on ebay for used boards, I would change the cpu/board/ram. Many ebay postings are for non working boards. Computer geeks has a couple of boards, but they may be atx, which may not fit your case.
