Which one??

Not really ... the E6500 black runs just like any of the other new 45nm 2M Wolfies ... they all clock past 4Ghz.

The larger 6M cache must generate more heat causing a nasty hot spot ... the 2M is cooler, so overclocks better.

I couldn't find if it was a newer stepping ... did you?
 
No, what Im saying is, the engineering samples Intel sent out for review clocked higher than what you can buy off the shelves, as all the review site chips went alot higher on their oc's, and couldnt be matched with store bought chips
 



#1 - An excellent unrealized gain (you've got to sell to make it a gain!)

#2 - I don't recall saying that, lol, but it's possible. I do remember saying a few times that it was an excellent investment opportunity but carried a significant risk of going bankrupt.

So, Intel may have more trouble than they thought. I know theyre trying to enter into the gfx area, and having 3 gfx producers may seem healthy, especially to Intel, as theyre the ones entering, but what about their home turf?
If this plays out, itll be interesting to say the least
 
Yep. I'm sure this one is being discussed at high level meetings in Santa Clara. I don't think there's any danger in the mainstream CPU space from this news, but Intel's well publicized plans to get into the consumer electronics market with Atom-based chips will apparently have new, "natively" CE competition.
 
Which eventually could make inroads in other directions further down the road.

Of course, that's always a possibility. They said that about Cell too, though, and while it has a few design wins it's still largely an x86/Power market.

question is can the solar processors OC well?

Nope, I take commerce, my parents buy the stock and reap the benefits.
