I can remember when consoles used 10-20W of power. I think we went for performance far too quickly when the technology wasn't there to keep power consumption in check. This is one of the reasons I like solutions such as Brazos - low power consumption and low-end discrete card performance.

There should be a lower power ceiling than is usually worked to in order to prevent things spiraling out of control, but I think we're a bit late for that, at least, until either AMD or nVidia repeat what ATi did with the 4xxx series and go back to a smaller and smarter GPU.

I love seeing people claiming not to be fanboys, but, fighting incessantly to try to prove a point. Who's better, AMD, Intel, or Nvidia? Well, here's a hint: Whichever you feel you prefer. Why is that my answer and not some sort of proof? Well, people tend to get quite opinionated, and will see what they want to see, regardless. If you feel one card is better, buy it. If you feel one chip is better, go for it. Stop trying to make people "see the light". Funny too how people that complain about trolling seem to troll themselves and fling insults quite freely as well. Frustration shows well through wording.

Back to the article at hand, which is what people should be posting about to begin with. Unless you plan on doing multi-monitor gaming, this card is overkill. For those complaining about price, heat, etc. Well, guess what? Premium comes at a premium. Always has, always will. If you have #1 CPU, APU, GPU, Memory, SSD speed, etc. and you sell it for less than your competitors, you're quite ignorant when it comes to business. All these companies are making these products for one reason: to make money. Live with it, buy what you want (can afford) and move on. Feel free to post your opinions on it, but, never insult someone for having one of their own. It makes you seem less intelligent and credible. TY and happy computing.

[citation][nom]andy5174[/nom]AMD fanboys actually devote much more time and energy in this than me. They keep creating new account for childish purpose, trolling and insulting.[/citation]

You seem to be devoting a lot of time being an ignorant troll so far in this thread anyways. Even if anything you said is true just simply by your attitude and complete narrow minded fanboyism i would simply ignore you. Speaking of childish don't you have homework or something? Better get it done before mommy comes and tucks you in.

BTW i remember when AMD had the hands down no competition CPU's I only paid $300 for my top of the line black edition. while intel still tried to rape you for almost $1000 like they do now for a mere couple frames better in almost all gaming areas. (which is all i really care about anyways other then some multi tasking ability) so ill go buy a likely 6970 MAYBE just MAYBE a 6990 if my case will fit it. Don't really care at all about the noise it might make just how it runs my games in 2560x1600. To me spending 2x more on a cpu for a few frames is pointless. Spending $700 on a video card for the same thing is equally pointless i don't care who makes it.

But in closing please for all of us adults here i just want to say please for the love of god shut the hell up andy all your bs about fanboys and ignorant posts and such. You resemble your remark.

[citation][nom]mayankleoboy1[/nom]MEH.just get 2x 6950 / 2x gtx 560 and do a favour to your ears.[/citation]

I'd go with the 6950 x 2 as my board only supports CF.

The 6990 still looks like the card to have when going to a LAN.

I deleted that post and I really don't appreciate being called an AMD fanboy, in the context of graphic cards at least.
