Dynamic I/O bus introduced in K8L architecture

AM2 get upgraded to AM2+: AM3 is postponed!
Gud news + Bad news :!

AMD to enter K8L era in 2H 2007

AMD Quad-Core Altair upcoming in 2007 Q3

"X4 one targets for the mainstream segment with SMP (Symmetric Multi-Processor) technology."

"Based on K8L architecture, Altair has upgraded Instruction fetch to 32B, enhanced Branch Prediction and Out-of-order load execution, with Double Precision FLOPS/cycle, 128Bit SSE, and Load per Cycle. AMD claim that the new architect would get a great improvement with more than 40%!"
This is funny?

Edit: links

Now it doesn't take a genius to figure out the marketing genius behind using the term 2H07 rather then 3Q07. Yes, K8L will be released in the 2nd Half of 2007.. but during the 3rd quarter of 2007. Which means Jul/Aug/Sep of 2007.

Now, it also doesn't take a genius to note that if AMD are successful in adding these new features to K8L then it would indeed be faster clock for clock then Intel's Core 2 architecture.

The kicker is the process that will be used. AMD will be using a 65nm process while Intel will be using a 45nm process. We've already seen Core 2's reaching in excess of 4GHz with the 65nm process, Intel is said to be releasing the 45nm Core 2 Quad's with clock speeds in the high 3GHz+ range.

Therefore if all this pans out I foresee both AMD and Intel being competitive in the Performance/Watt category, Intel Dominating in the Performance category and AMD dominating in the Performance per Clock category.

That's my prediction with the information currently available.

This seems like a biased post... why compare a current generation processor to a next-generation processor? Any time I get the urge (and have a free $200) I can buy a Conroe and have it in a day or two... K8L? Well, last I checked they're not in stock in New Egg.

i agree, this thread should be cast into the void. but, those oh-so-hated pics at the beginning did make me wonder...

what was up with that mobo?

i'm talking about the one showing the 4x4. there were 2 sets of 4 dimm ram slots, it looked like. whats ram going to be like on the 4x4? does anything know any more than "its vaporware, STFU" ?

just curious. i mean i know that the picture doesn't hold much validity whatsoever, but i'm just curious.

and whats the deal with that htx slot? the thing even looks to have 2 VGAs! wtf?

Yep, you're all alone. Not being harsh, but seeing as you're new here you gotta learn the ropes too. 😀
If you want a thread to be locked and then you reply to your own post asking for a reply or say, "lock this thread" and ask a question, then expect a deafening silence.

.....ahhah. that would explain it. heh. and one knows that a forum is locked when....?

(although this post may never be answered)

...sniff [/tear]
...he wouldn't even answer my question. i'm so alone.

The actual conroe advantage sits in the aded SSE units and wider buses than K8; If K8L will add more SSE units with a wider bus it will most probably outperform conroe.

You do realise that conroe is more then that and K8L is more then that. You do realise theres much more to an architecture then those things, right?
what :?:

You dig up a topic and all you can say is "what?"

Ok atol you're a complete tosser. I'm not a fanboy, you are and you're in denial. STFU and get over it, no-one cares what you have to say. You constant comparing me to 9nm proves just how much of a dipsh!t you really are.
ACTION_MAN FAN BOY!
