We have had several requests for a sticky on AMD's yet to be released Piledriver architecture ... so here it is.

I want to make a few things clear though.

Post a question relevant to the topic, or information about the topic, or it will be deleted.

Post any negative personal comments about another user ... and they will be deleted.

Post flame baiting comments about the blue, red and green team and they will be deleted.

Enjoy ...

And if you sold a Monster-brand HDMI cable for $120, you'd make about $115 in profit 😀

In this day and what looks to be the couple of years (and maybe next gen), consoles primary aim is to replace what we call "HTPCs" and Tablets in the living room, having "gaming" as a ticket in the long set of features check list.

The Nintendo Wii started this a long time ago I guess, but now it's really marked that Consoles want to be your "Living room computing hardware". Even replacing "smart TVs" and I have no problem with that, since HTPCs won't disappear, but will compete with them.

Cheers!

I wonder what happened to quality single player story based games - Planescape Torment is spectacular, has anything matched it yet? No. Will anything ever match it? Very unlikely. Lucky we still have developers like CD Projekt. If its not some 3hr throwaway FPS, its some free to play or MMORPG rubbish. Even Sleeping Dogs was all over the place. There was no real story just a skeletal outline. Anyway, back on topic.

true that. I needed a cable one time right away, went to target. all they had by their tvs were the moster cables, $40-$100 .. hmm , not paying that price no matter how bad i need it. checked by their console equpiment. picked up the xbox hdmi 1.4a cable for $10.

I can beat that, my gaming system is hooked up to my monitor with a $7 1.3c cable. Digital is digital. Its either there or not.

I feel your pain man 🙁 Sad how everyone jumped on the multiplayer bandwagon due to call of duty's big profits and all the pirates playing single player games. I miss good old hitman games, final fantasy 7, the list goes on.

Its got nothing to do with piracy. Its to do with lazy greedy developers pandering to the console masses who can only appreciate BOOM and can't sit still for longer than a few minutes to appreciate a good story. Not to mention the $$$$$ in free to play and multiplayer. The end results is poor quality games.

Yeah going to those stores for the simple stuff is like buying your milk and bread at a gas station quick mart. It's marked up massively just to carry them.

Obviously that kind of stuff isn't working for the likes of Best Buy. I think they'd have more sell through on the bigger ticket items if they priced accessories at a more reasonable markup. Put them way in the back of the store like grocery stores do with the milk. Forcing you to walk right past all the impulse buy items.

The reason they value consoles is because console gamers buy their games, vast majority of PC gamers, like you I suppose, pirate their games and then blame developers for being lazy and greedy. What do you expect from them?

Really? I can go down to my local Chinatown, pick up a pre-cracked console and a wallet filled with 100 burnt console games ready to go for $300 or so. Go on, it can't match PC piracy is a myth.

I had a 3ghz Core2Duo and a HD 5670 and I was able to play Crysis 2,Crysis Warhead,Metro 2033,Witcher 2 all at 1920x1080 medium to higher settings no AA/AF
your system is stronger than that one
so your system should be fine at 1920x1080 or below at medium to high settings no AA for any game

this is my Youtube channel "Gaming on a Budget" which has videos to prove it can be done

^I second the idea of not using anti aliasing with low end card. Its heavy on the system. Even when I play games where I could get 60 fps with 1080p and 4aa, I still only use 2aa. It helps me avoid frame-rate dips, keeps card cooler, saves a little energy. Finally, when you play at 1080p, AA hardly makes a visual difference past 2xAA.
