We have had several requests for a sticky on AMD's yet to be released Piledriver architecture ... so here it is.

I want to make a few things clear though.

Post a question relevant to the topic, or information about the topic, or it will be deleted.

Post any negative personal comments about another user ... and they will be deleted.

Post flame baiting comments about the blue, red and green team and they will be deleted.

Enjoy ...

I think the problem is the amount of money and the "trust" he betrayed. If it were just a couple hundreds worth, maybe he was going to be a few weeks or months. Like they say, he did it fully knowing the consequences and the impact those documents had for Intel.

Burn him.

Anyway, it would be interesting to know what the documents had in them. Maybe it was indeed "compiler" info... You know, some letters about "do not let AMD have this or else...", lol.

Cheers! xD

20yrs in prison for fraud charge?!
nice to know that stealing company documents is worth more than human life
murderers and rapists have gotten out in less time

Companies have the money to keep lobbyists pushing their agenda. That's how we get $100,000 fines for making a copy of a song. Companies have more rights than people these days.

Just think about that when you bash Intel/AMD...

The sad thing here is that people think they need to tax corporations more when in reality the reason why so many jobs leave the US every year is because the tax rates on corporations is incredibly high. Intel has the majority of their FABs here but if they are pushed enough, they will move them. China, India etc all have very low tax rates for corporations hence why the jobs go to those places.

When the corporations get taxed more, that tax goes down to the people. Add the cost of goods being higher with jobs dissapearing and you have a economy going down the drain.

I haven't kept up on the current presidential nomminies and such but he makes a good point. Intel alone puts tons of their earnings back into R&D, hell $5Billion is going to FAB 42 in Chandler which will create hundreds of high paying jobs for that area.

Of course those same people who want to tax corporations higher also are normally the ones who want the government hand outs and not wanting to work for their living but thats the great thing about America.

The same goes with AMD. Although their only FAB was in Dresden, they reside in the US. but if the tax rate goes up and Intel starts moving, what would keep AMD here? The technology sector is the one thing the US has a good hold on, especially computer technology. If we lose that, we pretty much screw ourselves.

Thats why AMD needs to also step up their game and start competing with Intel on a proper level in every market. Sure they best them in a few, like GPUs but then again Intel has never really pushed GPUs and even now they still don't have the best IGP. Maybe in a few years but even then, ATIs experience will outweigh Intels giant pockets there.

Yes, but are corps "people" really? What is the definition of a 'people/person'?

Correct me if i'm wrong but by doing this doesn't this make it where businesses can vote? Don't want to go fox news(more like Cnn this time since fox is fair and balance to the Republicans) on someone but i must say that i don't want that guy to win(don't really want anyone to win but Ron Paul but that's not going to happen just like last time i wanted huckabee). No offence to someone who does! everyone has their(how can i say this nicely?) Opinions. Unlike the news/Some people on this thread( You know how you are!) i try my best to be fair and balance and nice to everyone..............Except for malmental. :kaola:

Imagine how many human lives those hundreds of millions could have saved. Worth more than a human life? Yes, I'd say worth many for such a horrendous crime.

@malmental: And if you're not going to vote Obama, who in God's name is worth voting for? The Republicans?

Sorry for the hijacking, I just thought those two things had to be cleared up. Never forget the ability of money to save peoples' lives though, that's often underestimated.

I don't think most company's leave the US because of taxes, they leave for cheap labor and cheap labor only.

I don't know if you read Apple's justification as to why they shifted to China (Foxconn), but is more than "cheap labor". I would suppose that is one important reason as wel, but the second one is that China has a way of making things (manufacturing) so fast, few Countries in the world and compete: they adapt, build and create cities and towns around factories, moving thousands of people in the blink of an eye to produce stuff. The USA doesn't have a shift or feeling towards Manufacture like they used to AFAIK, so there's no way they can compete: not humanly, not technically, not financially. At least, technically is easy to overcome, but the other two... Ugh...

A friend of mine went to mainland China (he's from Hong Kong, but they make a distinction) and saw the famous "factory cities". He said it was friggin' amazing in a pure technical point of view, but he said people have a horrible life there.

At this rate we already know more about Haswell than Vishera, and Vishera is due in Q3.

So far we got:
Higher DDR3 speeds
RCM

A more mature process is a given, but is nice to hope/remember it 😛

I really hope they can squeeze at least 4.8Ghz with some room to spare at a respectable TDP (110W is not that bad, lol).

Cheers!
