We have had several requests for a sticky on AMD's yet to be released Piledriver architecture ... so here it is.

I want to make a few things clear though.

Post a question relevant to the topic, or information about the topic, or it will be deleted.

Post any negative personal comments about another user ... and they will be deleted.

Post flame baiting comments about the blue, red and green team and they will be deleted.

Enjoy ...

Lets see now,

AMD's Dual Graphics refers to a Crossfire connection between the APU and a dedicated graphics card. Sadly, in past testing, we found too many flaws with this setup. The technology looks good on paper, but the performance is limited by many restrictions in practice. For example, micro-stutters plague performance and there can sometimes be serious driver issues. For better or worse, AMD has installed this feature in Trinity as to allow a variety of Radeon GPUs (from the Radeon HD 7450M to an HD 7670M) to work in tandem with the IGP. The technology works despite the different VLIW4 and VLIW5 architectures as each card processes on its own in accordance to the AFR method. Unfortunately, the new GCN-based 7700M, 7800M and 7900M models cannot be used in Crossfire with the IGP.

One of my favourite sites for info and reviews.

I couldn't help it...
I will admit to one thing here in this public forum about you 'nforce'.
not too many people out here that I feel inferior to knowledge wise about hardware.
you are one of the guys who I feel know GPU's better than me
and I look forward to your post....

now with that being said...
😛

Recently got some more junked comps and found a i740

Even if PD is able to run faster than SB, AMD will still be considered a faiure because of games like starcraft 2. To some extent I agree with mal, AMD will never catch Intel (on Intel coded software). Thats why Intel did it. Even if AMD managed to pull ahead, Intel would just throw thier billions of dollars to sling mud on AMD, again.

How can you know that PD will fail at Starcraft 2? There's no way they'd sell a processor like that.

I'm telling you he's just talking out his a**.
him and his 'alias' esrever (or whatever his name) are the same guy or
'esrever' is a lost puppy dog and 'triny' was first to pet him and give him a bone.

I'm not even going to speak on all the false comments in the past including his own personal hardware
that he claims to have.
no validity, none..
Have rey do an IP/MAC scan on both user(s) if you are concerned.

I might act a fool from time to time 😗 but
my education, intelligence, experience, common sense and troubleshooting are sharp and for real.

(when the force (stars and moons aligned correctly) allows it to be so..)

Not to mention when the blood ethanol & delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol levels are low enough to permit rational thinking 😀 😀 😀

Super sayan
or monster monkey form via full moon's light, it looks like that your tail is still there 😛 (another hidden sayan)

I lost mine few years ago (goku 😗 )

in an earlier post, triny asked people to buy amd shares. he sounded like the people who pitch multi-level marketing.
who's gonna take responsibility if people actually listen to him, buy, and lose money?
i hope he was kidding...

I usually check AMD share prices several times a week, and they sometimes follow a somewhat predictable cycle, so it is possible to speculate & make money as he claims he did. Currently we seem to be in a correction cycle so I expect more declines in tech stocks across the board, although AMD stock usually has a greater percentage decline than Intel's. So I would wait until after it bottoms out if you are seriously considering speculating. And keep an eye on the Euro and Chinese news since bad news there spooks the market, whereas domestic good news moves it upwards, sometimes.

However AMD is more risky - their stock prices declined from about $40 a share in 2006 to a low of $1.63 in 2009 IIRC, so all those people who bought at $20, $15, $12, etc on the expectation of recovery pretty much bailed out at $4 and lost most of their "investment". Over on AMDZone there were a number of them, who believed the hype espoused by Scientia (former mod) and others, and figured no way could AMD lose further marketshare and value. Currently on MSN Money, AMD's stockscouter rating is 4/10, and I've never seen it higher than 6/10. In contrast, Intel's is much higher, usually double AMD's.

Of course, for the record Triny also claimed to have an i5-2500 machine, which given his acerbic comments about how bad it is, either he is lying about that or is inept and cannot get it running properly, or is just trolling for effect which is my personal guess. Take yer pick 😛. At least Baron, when he posted here, said he was forced to use some Intel machine at work, as he would never buy one and "support the beast" :pt1cable: But he too complained about how lousy his Intel machine was, whereas his dated PII-955 machine "rocked" with megataskiing, "smoothiness", blah-blah. Triny does not appear to have discovered those trolling points yet :kaola:

Triny is a complete idiot. I thought I read a couple weeks ago that when trinity is announced amd stocks are going to go way up. I think amd stocks have dropped a dollar in the past week.

@fazers_on_stun: thanks for the info. so people have lost money from buying into this sort of hype before... i don't have much of business sense (or any sense whatsoever..) but i've always thought of stock-trading as risky. i meant that i don't want people to get hurt. a lot of people, impressionable newbies included, read the forum threads for information every day.
on a side note, i guess it's okay(!) if triny was just trolling.. >_>

this is why discussions go in circles. Go to page 87 for the most recent discussion on it. Been discussed about 4 times or more lol.

Intel i740, pretty much stone age tech now days. 😀

I got ya beat, at an auction a couple weeks ago, I picked up an IBM Convertible.

Paid $2.50, turned around and sold it for $65. Nostalgia collectors are funny sometimes.

I didn't say that it was the oldest thing that I got. I am using tools that are close to fifty years old for metal and wood working.
