[citation][nom]a4mula[/nom]Oh, and to those of you saying just buy larger screens...Only resolution increases workspace. Going with a 42+ inch Consumer Electronic LCD @ 1920x1080 is a travesty on a pc. At that size your pixel density gets so spread out that you have to start battling against blurryness.5x1 @ 1680x1050 in portrait equates to a 5250x1680 resolution or 8.8 megapixels. Match that against 1920x1080 which is 2 megapixels. 4x the amount of pixels in surface areas that will be similiar.[/citation]

5 monitors @ 1600x2560 = 8000x2560 .......

you could probably almost see a full panoramic view in a FPS, i think my eyes would bleed with such a setup, as well as my bank account

It appears this product is much better for high end business than gaming. This is a cheap, and I do mean cheap, six monitor setup. I am an operational meteorologist, just two years ago a four monitor setup for our business cost nearly $14,000 and that is just for the monitor, graphics cards, and drivers, not to mention the workstation and its specialized software. Four monitors was considered a luxury but is was also not enough. In some cases, we could use up to eight at one time depending on the current weather situation. Getting a six monitor setup for less than $5,000 means we could not only replace our existing two 4 monitor workstations but add two to three more 6 monitor workstations and more than double our productivity for close to the same money. To be able to get this kind of capability on the general market is a tremendous savings rather than having to get it customized which is much more expensive.

As soon as these hit the market I will replace the 4870's running a 5760x1920 desktop with the new cards using Eyefinity, maybe I can get 3 more of the same monitors cheap now and pull 5760x 3840

I could see a 3 monitor setup, or in the case of my desk and both my 24.6" Samsungs. Six is going a little too far in most cases for me. The idea is still pretty damn cool, though.

You must sit far enoguh away so you don't need to turn your head to see things at the edges. That would put you far enough away that your eyes couldn't possible resolve 5250 vertical lines.

Help me out here. I am trying to remember the name of the company that sells monitors in a multiple configuration. The selling point with them is that the monitors are mounted bezeless so your view is seamless. They were pretty pricey but I still would like to take a look at them again....just don't remember the name and cannot find it doing a search.

This seems like it's something useful for a workstation/pro product but not all that useful to most consumers. The mention of gaming is nice to see as in ALMOST all of the demo shots, I see games being displayed, and I think to myself WTF would want to do that with those big black bezels along all of the edges?

Now if there were monitors with super thing or removeable bezel edges and a good mounting system it'd be nice, but mostly I still think that it's best for independent desktops and not one single amalgamated display excepting a very few specific applications. I'd never really have room for more than say 4 displays myself and they'd end up having to be wall mounted, but I'm sure that ATI will say it's for workstation users and consumers are getting it for "free" like the do with linux + Xorg catalyst...

So if you want zero space between screens, just use projectors. It would cost a lot more but you would get the same effect and could have a seamless line between the different monitors/projectors...

As an Eyefinity user I can and do admit the bezels are cumbersome. This mostly affects web browsing/productivity however. In games it's easy to forget they are there, everything kind of blends in to one large picture and the bezels become less pronounced.

For the person asking about the specialty Eyefinity 3x1 and 3x2 narrow bezel array LCD's it's Samsung. The MD230 is their 3x2 array. I do have a few issues with these however. First is price $3099 for 6 monitors. That's better than $500 per. The second is they are 1920x1080. I personally hate this resolution for gaming. It's a ratio (16:9) that creates long narrow screens. Personally I feel like either Dell's U2410 or the HP LP2475w is a much better screen if you're spending this kind of money.

Hmmmm, instead of buying 6 monitors for just gaming, why not buy a high end projector and have an 8 foot screen with no bezels?

The only reason I could see to do this is if you are using 6 monitors anyway for productivity and also happen to want to game on it. Also, unless you are sitting 6 to 8 feet away from that setup, it would be almost impossible to game on it.

One easy fix for the bezel issue with a 3 monitor setup is to put the two side monitors slightly behind the center monitor so that the bezels overlap. Then turn the side monitors slightly towards you for a "wrap-around" effect. This is what I do and it cuts the bezel size in half. The fact that the center monitor is slightly forward also adds a perception of depth to the game.

I don't know much about monitors, but why is the large bezel even necessary? Is there a lot of hardware in the bezel itself? It seems to me someone should be coming out with a "zero-bezel" monitor sometime soon.

Other than Adobe CS4 master collection, the build is a pile of crap. I could think of a million better uses of 2 grand on a build

Actually the 8 Dell S2209W monitors is included with the 2 grand...I thought these was the best part of the deal myself..LOL

I broke it down like this
8 dell monitors @ 150/piece = 1200
computer = 800
total 2000
or
8 dell monitors @ 200/piece = 1600 (are the monitors worth this)
computer = 400 (is this price good for this ("crap") total 2000

****You know what? I answered my own question.. if this is "crap" in the investing world it is better to buy a little bit of shares in a quality company than buy a lot of shares of "crap"

Now these numbers are based on whether the "monitors" are worth the money and I would just upgrade the computer...could I build a good system and get 8 22" monitors for 2000?

How does this system look as a build?

*Intel i7 Quad core 920/930

*GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD7

*Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit

*Corsair Dominator 6GB xms3

*Western Digital Raptor 150GB 10,0000RPM SATA

*Antec 900 Black Steel ATX midtower computer case

I think I left out fans..power cords..and CPU Cooler..please let me know if I forgot anything else and would this even work

A wise man once said "a wise man knows that he knows nothing"

..Thanks Rambo for the feedback..I appreciate it
