[citation][nom]nforce4max[/nom]Wow far far to many fanboys, you ATI people are giving Apple a run for it's money when it comes to fanaticism.[/citation]
Says the guy whose name as NVIDIA written all over it. :)

This is a mid year refresh that optimizes performance. Wait til the "7" series. By then DX11 might be more worth while and AMD should have some cool new features.

By then we will be using the bulldozer..

[citation][nom]iboomer[/nom]Alright, what did I miss? The 6770 from the chart above, look to me, like it is barely on parr with the 5870. Sure it has some pluses, but why would I go out and spend more money on the newer card when I could get the same performance out of the older one? Not that I know the first damn thing about video card performance, I am still running an 8800 GTS.[/citation]

What you missed is that 6770 is to replace 5770 - why should you be comparing it to the 5870???.
If the new mainstream model is as fast the previous flagship, THAT'S an impressive leap, alright.

Can't wait for the specs on the 6870...

Excellent! I am so looking forward to the 6870 when it finally comes out. I'm very interested to see if it will have twice the horsepower of a 5870 as well. Hmmm.....I wonder what prices will be like?

This could pretty much destroy half of nvidia`s foundation :) not that i`m not glad for AMD but ... if nvidia won`t have antyhing aginst these beasts ... there will be a monopoly for video cards soon.

[citation][nom]sirmorluk[/nom]Looks like it uses more power though in both idle and load.[/citation]

Faster GPUs usually does that. Performance doesn't come free. I believe the performance/Watt has still improved from HD5000 series. And lets not even talk about Fermi.

If we can assume the HD6870 will follow suit in upgrades, the HD6770 has 60% more SP units (if this is correct) with 1280 SP Units compared to 800 SP Units.

That would mean that a HD6870 should have 2560 SP Units. Then again thats always a should and until we have final specs we wont know.

I doubt it will be 2x the performance but it will probably at least be decent. I wish though it was on the 28nm process. Probably going to wait till the HD7K series for that.

Not going to happen any time soon. Nvidia has a huge fanbase. But I suspect AMD will gain more ground with HD6000.

Well i love AMD but i`m stuck with a GTX465 due to Adobe premiere Pro CS5 and Mercury playback engine that needs only cuda ...so there are a lot like me willing to go red but forced to stay greed because of marketing stuff.

[citation][nom]assmar[/nom]I must just be an AMD fanboy, but don't you understand the AMD naming convention? Obviously the 67xx will not be the top of the line AMD GPU meant to replace the 5870, the 68XX series will become available shortly after the 67s, of this I'm certain.[/citation]
67XX is the "upgrade" for the 57XX serie, and the power is double here, and the target price will be near the same and in the same targeted market.
Yes, they'll release the 68XX serie just after to double(?) the 58XX serie's power!!! sic... it will be amazing!!!

There seems to be a bigger jump in power from x750 to x770 this time.

If these are correct, it looks like to me that the 6750 will be around 5850 performance (+/- 3%), and 6770 will surpass the 5870 by about 5-7%.

Now, what will the price be? :)
If the 6770 is around $159 MSRP (the MSRP of the 5770 on launch) ummm yeah.... total generational wipeout.

[citation][nom]HavoCnMe[/nom]I didn't notice a big difference in performance, but did notice less juice being called upon to power one of these beasts. JMO[/citation]
Dude if you have one, share some benches man!

I think a lot of people are looking at the wrong data in this chart. You are suppose to be looking at the Pixel Fillrate, Texture Fillrate and the Z/Stencil, all of which denote how fast the graphics card can draw an image.

As you can see comparing the 5750 to the 6750, these rates all have a sizable increase: 25.2 to 40.6 GTexel/s, 11.2 to 23.2 GPixel/s, and finally 44.8 to 92.8 GSamples/s. All of these are almost double the previous 5750 performance.

Stop looking at the clock rates, they don't tell you how well the card will perform. Remember the old AMD64/Pentium4 days? When the amds were clocked slower but performed as well as faster clocked pentiums? Its the exact same thing here.

In relation to memory bandwidth... which the 6xxx series seems to have plenty of. So yes, 6770 looks like it will be faster then 5850.

Seriously look, the 6770 has 184GB/s of memory bandwidth for its relative texture fill.

Unless you are cranking the resolution higher then 1680, this card looks like it will be faster then the 5870 when AA is enabled.

Any details of the news on the delayed release from OCT to NOV ?

http://www.techeye.net/chips/amd-postpones-radeon-hd-6000
Digitimes reports that the brand formerly known as ATI before it was suckered up into AMD has delayed the launch of its Radeon HD 6000 GPUs from October to November.

The move doesn't mean the series will move to 28nm, but will still be a slightly revamped HD 5000 made in 40nm, meaning its specs probably won't touch the performance of green goblin Nvidia's Fermi marchitecture.

So buy a Fermi or a 6*** ??
What would perform better ?

How is a pro-Nvidia article? News? The guy is smoking something funny in that article. I want a Fermi card for CUDA, but it is clear in gaming performance the 6x series is about to wipe out Nvidia if the price is right.
