I am actually happy for AMD that they acquired the contract for the PS4. Sometime ago I heard AMD was in financial trouble and was close to bankruptcy on a path to ruins. Glad to see they had more tricks up their sleeves than expected. I would hate for NVIDIA to be the only game in town because then that would mean that they would control the market and they could dictate the prices for GPUs which would damper innovation..

So when will they make an APU for me that is comparable to the latest Intel CPU and nVidia GPU pairing? My 3 year old PC is already more powerful than the PS4 APU. I want an APU that pushes the limits, and I'll pay for it! Sadly, AMD/ATI hasn't been king of performance for a while. King of price/performance, maybe.

The guys at green team go green at girls in green with great boobies cheering for the red team.......Another win for AMD.

you may want to refrain from comparing intel and nvidia's "latest pairing" since that will set you back for a good $1k+ for those 2 components alone. while a ps4 will roughly set you back for meager $400-450 and will allow you to play sony exclusives and does not need to be upgraded every 2 years. you may argue that it will have inferior graphics but console players aren't going to complain about that. and when the game you want to play is released exclusively for consoles only, no amount of processing power nor gpu grunt can help you unless of course an emulator is released and you are willing to break the law. then good for you.

>> It'll likely be almost half the price of a 680 alone anyways.

Yeah and it also means that AMD will be selling their chips extremely cheaply while still having high development costs for custom hardware. That's a big opportunity cost right there in terms of where you put the in-house talent. Do you put it in dead-end hardware with low profit margins or in future mobile technology with billions of units selling yearly? Tough business decision to make...

>>Maybe nVidia can buy VIA and bid on the next-gen consoles ...

VIA's x86 license is non-transferrable after acquisitions. That's how intel rolls about enforcing their monopoly. But I personally think ARM ecosystem will sink Intel to 10b market cap in 5 years.

nVidia could have been part of this project but they're too busy building superior GPU's for supercomputers. They have bigger things to attend to. Consoles like this are just trivial.

Cry about it all you want, PC's are superior. Consoles are just dumb terminals that can play video games and watch movies. Cute.

PC's can handle heavy gaming at much better quality and performance than these pieces of crap. Silly console followers waste their money on single function computing devices instead of a PC that can actually get some real work done. GUESS WHAT. I PLUGGED A USB CONTROLLER INTO MY PC. SUDDENLY IT WORKS JUST LIKE YOUR CONSOLE LOL.

And as a PC gamer i can say this is why PS4 will win over XB1, easier production of software and more reliable hardware than before. Tho the graphics will be lame i may buy one just to support my second Fav company, AMD, but i prefier PC and NIntendo due to better games

THAT IS AMAZING! half the performance of a GTX 680 on an integrated chip!! I had no idea that they had come that far.

the butthurt is strong in this one. learn to let go man. no amount of crying will ever change what has already been done.

At the current rate of GPU development in 2 years the new consoles will once again be inadequate and you'll be stuck with what you have for the next 10 years as technology and the gaming world rapidly leaves you behind. I feel a MUHAHA coming on....MUHAHAHAHA...MUHAHAHAHA

honestly I see just as many people having problems with their 6 and 700 series GTX cards as I do people with AMD cards. I've never had problems with any drivers on both ends.
