The name will be missed. And unless Fusion is truly something phenomenal we will be missing out on a lot more in the future IMHO.

And the new "badging" isn't as attractive. Don't think it's worth case space on my new custom build.

[citation][nom]wishmaster12[/nom]Hopefully the name catylst will go away too, catylst sucks. get a real videocard driver name! you will for surely sell more cards[/citation]

I don't know anyone that has ever based their GPU decision, even in part, on the name the company chooses for its drivers.

its a little sad, but a natural move. you had to know it was coming eventually, but im going to keep my ATI logo badges on my computer case...maybe make a crying indian face every now and again when i look over and see it. still love amd's (ati's) products, but will definitely miss the old name/logo.

[citation][nom]nforce4max[/nom]Sigh another great brand gets the axe. I still remember STB and Power VR. I still got a few trident cards around. [/citation]
Hell, I still have my 3DFX Voodoo card sitting in a box somewhere in my garage. Remember those? You had to use an external passthrough video cable to run your 2D card into the Voodoo card, and then plug your monitor into the Voodoo card. That was the advent of 3D graphics. I still remember how sweet it looked when I first ran it!

suppose it stops new age Nvidia fags learning about ATI's distant Poor proformance GPU's. as today ATi is a completely different kettle of fish

Fusion could adopt the resultant color of mixing Green and Red....

ok maybe stick to having two separate colors..... Damn it green doesn't mix well with any color

Ask to any boy with 10~14 yrs about 3dfx... Or ask them about S3. Even if you ask about Riva TNT or ATI Rage maybe they don't know. ATI is just the same think. GM is phasing out some of their brands. Names strong in some markets don't lose their importance. In Europe Opel is GM's main brand, while in other markets, like here in Brazil is Chevrolet, just like USA. Firestone is a large brand in North America. Here in Brazil Firestone is a budget tire maker (Bridgestone sells best tires with Bridgestone brand, and the cheap ones with Firestone brand).

Maybe if ATI had a strong brand in any place it could survive. Very few people in Brazil like ATI or Radeon brands. When people ask me "Which card buy for R$ 1.000,00 (some US$ 550,00)" and i answer with Radeon 5850 they say "But it isn't nVidia! Radeon cards aren't as good as nVidia's".

If you dont believe that a simple 5850 costs that much, here's the link:
https://www.guerradigital.net/placas-de-video/ati/xfx-radeon-hd5850-725m-1gb-gddr5-hdmi-hd-585x-znfc.html
This price without shipping that costs from R$ 30,00 to R$ 70,00.

Holy name change Batman! I have always been with ATI i'll miss the name, but this change makes sence and its time to move forward. I'm glad they are keeping Radeon around for nostalgia or W/E.

Makes me think about Intel's recent news on IGP and could it be AMD wants to consolidate their products for future bussiness poise.

woah...got scared for a second that AMD was dropping ATI. But this? This is good, good timing atleast. All thats changing is the name, which i think will help AMD (and "ATI") as a whole.

Shakespeare said "What's in a name..." Well today a name is something to die for. Use another company's trademark and you'd be sued without mercy. ATI is quite a well established brand. Would have preferred the ATI logo for graphics products with a small caption at the bottom "by AMD"

[citation][nom]Snipergod87[/nom]ATi is still ATi to me[/citation]

^ This ^

I hope they don't lose the red though. Red vs. Green has been the iconic battle for 15 years now. Green vs. Green wouldn't make as much sense.

I have negative view on this, ATI is making her/his name right now !!!
And it somehow feels like this epic battle ati vs nvidia changed coz nvidia won and amd changed with ati... in genaral it's emotional drag for some of us.
