I would honestly look back to the Antec Twelvehundred. It's a very beastly case with better airflow and I know for a fact it has the switches on each fan. Should be the same price too and has been updated with USB 3.0
also, does anyone have suggestions for a better case, at a price of <$150, or would this one be the go to?
Looking for USB 3.0, good air flow (no water cooling), relatively quiet if possible. Side window and an LED are a plus
Thanks!
The Antec 1100 is a great case, but perhaps bigger and more expensive than you need.
My personal preference is smaller is better.
What will you need the case to hold?
1) Motherboard size(ATX, M-ATX, ITX)
2) how many hard drives?
3) How many graphics cards? Exactly which one/s?
4) Is there any size limitations as to where it will be located?
A side window transmits internal noise. How do you feel about the tradeoff?
Modern cpu chips and 28nm graphics cards do not need so much cooling.
If a case has two 120mm intake fans or equivalent, you shoud have good cooling.
Is there a case you simply lust after? If so, consider busting your budget to buy it.
A case is a personal thing, and you will be living with it for a long time.
geofelt, to address your questions (which I probably should have begun with!)
Im housing the following:
mobo: GA-Z77X-UD3H (ATX)
Drives: currently 1 SSD, 2 HDD, 1 DVD and possibly 1 Blue ray
GPU: ASUS GTX 670... would like to keep the option for potential SLI in the future
No real size limitations in terms of space, although I dont want anything too massive like the corsair 800D.
Im not very familiar with cases myself. I was kind of sold on the Antec 1100, especially as its on sale for 69.99 at Canada Computers, but I hate the fact that the fans will always be at 100%.
I definitely understand that the windows transmit noise, Im willing to make that sacrifice to some extend, but am hoping there may be some really solid case which provides a slick look while not sacrificing too much in terms of noise.
$150 is my mark at the moment, but i would certainly be willing to break the budget slightly for the right case.
Any suggestions to get me started looking in the right direction?
