Hi I'm Steve...I'm having HP Compaq Presario SR1732IL...

Base processor:-
*Pentium4 524 (P) HT 3.06 GHz
* 533 MHz front side bus
* Socket 775

Chipset:- ATI Radeon Xpress 200 for Intel Processors.

Motherboard:-
*Manufacturer : ECS
*Motherboard Name : RC410-M
*HP/Compaq motherboard name: Asterope-GL8E.

Since its chipset is ATI Radeon Xpress 200 for Intel Processors is it essential to install ATI Radeon graphics card...?

It has a single PCI EXPRESS X16 slot.

1.Can i use PCI EXPRESS 2.0 graphics card?

2. I need to know which is the best graphics card i could install in my cpu for best visual and graphical performance while playing HD games and HD movies & graphics.

3. Since i have planed to buy a FULL HD (1920 X1080 resolution) "LG M227WA" or "LG M237WA" LCD Monitor cum TV which has "2 HDMI input ports, 1 DVI-D Input(PC), 1 RGB Input (PC), 1 Component Input, 1 RF Antenna input" & etc.....

Tell me a best graphics card with HDMI, DVI-D & several of those ports.

Please reply soon. Im eager to buy it soon.

Bad advice from mrcrybaby... it is highly unlikely your power supply can support that card. Post the specs from your power supply before considering going down that ride. The 4870 is a nice card and a good value... but if it won't work for you? Well, what's the point?

Oh ya! Good catch rodney. Well if you can support it, 4870. If not, maybes 4850 or gtx240?? Psu's r pretty cheap, i'd suggest u get one... u can prob get a nice 700w and use it in future builds.

For playing HD movies any video card will suffice, ATI 4670, ATI 4830, ATI 4850 - as long as its a low-mid range or better. Make sure you have at least 4 GBs of ram especially if you intend on playing 1080p to avoid experiencing choppiness during playback.

As for playing games, I'd normally recommend the new ATI 5750 or 5770 but you'll be bottlenecked hugely by your processor, the Pentium 4 series is extremely old, I know its the dual core version (essentially a Pentium D) but they are nacked and will struggle to keep up with a new video card. I checked HP and Compacts website and your motherboard does not support Core 2 Duo/Core2 Quad. I think its in your best interest to set aside an additional $200 and buy a new motherboard/CPU (AMD) to ensure smooth HD playback and to reap the full benefit of a new video card.

Also you didn't post much information in regards to your PSU unit as the power supply will also be a factor in which card you can buy.

Thanks for the info.
But how can i know about PSU of my Compaq presario SR1732IL.
Where should i Search it for.

HP website does not specify the PSU, you're going to have to unscrew the side pannel of your comptuer's case and take a look at the sticker on the side of the power supply unit, it should say its wattage/amp.

To be honest the system is old and HP prebuilt rigs are known to have notoriously sub standard PSUs, it might be easier to buy a new PSU as well.

Hi Steve,

First, PCI Express 1.0 and PCI express 2.0 are compatible(2.0 is just faster), so you shouldn't worry about that when purchasing a card under $65.

Most likely the best card you can run is a Ati 4670--they run $50-65 in the states, but I am not certain of what vendors you have available. A slightly less expensive 4650, or even 4550 like ubernoobie suggested would be a good choice as well. Up to you how much to spend.

Most likely these would run ok on your current PSU, but wait for someone to agree with me before going ahead with that because I'm not accustomed to dealing with volts.
