ANY PSU GURU ? ATX12V V2.01 and ATX12V V2.3 Question ?

ANY ONE KNOW WHAT IS THE BASIC DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THESE 2 IN PSUS

i got 260GTX black edition (GX-260N-ADB9) V8.1 ..

ITS NOT WORKING WITH MY SILVERSTONE ST65ZF 650W THATS
ATX 12V V2.01 and CM Xtreme power 600w (RP 600 PCAR)ATX12V V2.01 on this system(E5300,P5QLPRO,2GB KINGSTON )

AND

it worked fine with my friend CM xtreme power plus 600W(RS600-PCAR-E3) thats ATX12V V2.3 on this system (pentiumD 3.4ghz , asus p5kpl cm, 2gb ram )

why is it didnt work with that
is there any compatibility issue between V2.01 and my card ???

All the video card cares about is whether or not there is enough power coming into the two PCI-e power plugs. Apparently, with the first two PSU's, there wasn't.

ST65ZF is SLI got 4 6pin connectors and 42amp on 12v rail .. and we checked MSI 4890 OC card on it that worked without any issue

Just scroll down to the revision history. There is no compatibility issue between the atx versions and your video card.

That Silverstone power supply is a 5 year old model. The maximum wattage and the current (amps) on the +12 volt rail is low. According to the Silverstone web site the current (amps) is listed as just 42 amps. That's what I would expect for a 500 to 550 watt power supply.

I checked the official system requirements for a system with one 260 GTX Black Edition video card . The recommendation is a 650 watt or greater power supply. The 260 GTX Black edition is a power hungry video card.

It is time to get a new power supply.

Corsair and Seasonic are two of the brands that have a reputation for high quality power supplies that consistently earn high marks in technical reviews. They are reliable, stable, and come with a 5 year warranty. Some of the newer models come with a 7 year warranty. Lately we've been seeing a few other brands offering some high quality units.

delluser1 - The darn power consumption charts get kind of crazy sometimes.

bit-tech is showing 186 watts at idle, 317 watts at load, and 326 at peak for the entire system for the standard GTX 260. The load and peak were measured while playing Crysis. 600 to 650 watts is high but it is about right for 2008/early 2009 when power supplies operated at peak efficiency somewhere around 50% to 60% of load.

techPowerUp.com measured video card power consumption only. The reference GTX 260 maxed out at 186 watts all by itself.

Lately we've been having an awful lot of questions about power supplies and pc's freezing or shutting down right in the middle of a game. Wonder if there is a really high spike in power consumption during an intense scene.

I've got my overclocked 65nm Core 192 GTX260 running with an oc'd I7-860 on a 41 amp 550 watt psu , no problem.
I've run it on an Antec EA430 with an overclocked E6850, no problem.
The XFX "XXX" is nothing more than an overclocked 260, it require's no more power than any other highly overclocked 260, those come with 500 watt / 36 amp reccomendations from EVGA ( and are clocked higher than the "XXX" )

guys i dont know why SST 650W worked with .MSI 4890OC card its a heaver card than mine without a problem ...

and COOLERMASTER xtreme power plus is 600w even it cost less than sst650w ...

is the card FAULTY ? even i doubted my board and send it in warranty but it came back there is no fault in the board.. this card didnt detect by my board not even 2 other DG31PR ..dvi is ok card is ok on frind pc my board is ok .. power supplies are different only ..
