Ok, ok, that too. Anything with "dumb" works just fine.

People in Europe don't buy apple...much.

[citation][nom]billybobser[/nom]maybe they can post results of self builders and their satisfaction with their machine.Dell , Hp etc sell junk. Branded fancy CPU surrounded by dire components, cheap slow ram, cheap slow hard disks, 'Gamer' graphics meaning an ATI 6470.It's no wonder people are not satisfied. With regard to apple, they are probably delighted that the sandbox world they exist in, work's like it should.[/citation]
Yep... I just saw a machine with an i5 and Geforce 520 graphics, it said that it would "beat the competition out of the box". Really, that's a great graphics card? Once I outfit my 1st gen i5 750 machine with a geforce 550ti, it'll beat that machine easily. (also 8GB DDR3 1600, WD Caviar Black)

Basically, they advertise that it has NVIDIA OR ATI graphics, lots of ram and hd, and a great cpu... not quite. It has SLOW dedicated graphics, lots of SLOW ram, and a high capacity slow unreliable Seagate HDD. Oh, and a PSU that just barely powers the stock config.

Oh, and I'm quite satasfied with my self-built machine. I used quality components, not just fast ones. It should last a long time compared to OEM ones.

95% of the people I know that owns apple's product can barely spell APPLE.

They think cause they paid more for a shiny product that it's better.

[citation][nom]jakall[/nom]They don`t sell junk, they are filling a gap in the market. Not everyone wants a shiny machine to show it at the local restaurant. Don`t like it, don`t buy it.Junk is something with inferior components and double the price, just because it has a fruity logo on the back. (Just picture the Dell XPS 15Z vs MacBook pro 15)Apple sells junk, period.[/citation]

im home build pc vs prebuilt same cost.

for 500$ i can build a pc that can run crysis, probably at max, at 1920x1200 without aa. try coming close to that on a 500 prebuilt.

This would not be the case of PC's came loaded with NO crapware, microsoft needs to crackdown on that. It's like buying a pc with malware from day one, of course non tech types are going to buy macs and be happy with them.

Consumer satisfaction is going to be higher if the consumer is not only satisifed with the product (which a lot of posts are focused on) but also what happens before and afterwards.

Yes, there are companies out there that will sell you a platinum plated laptop that can run 4 sessions of Crysis at 1920x1200, but when something goes wrong, what is the experiance like at trying to get it fixed (warrenty issues, lost DVD installations, incorrect hardware - i ordered an Alienware machine that shipped with the wrong graphics card (6800 vs 6800GT) installed (although they did manage to sort it out)).

While apples business decisions and practices are... questionable at times (more so then others in the field), the after sales support is not.

After dealing with HP and DELL when something goes wrong, it is difficult to get tech support that goes beyond the "have you tried turning it off and on again?". Claiming for a warrenty issue is similar to have a root canal done via your feet.
On the flip side when i needed to ring through to apple i was actually surprised that i was speaking to an actual person (no accent or anything) within 2 minutes of picking up the phone. The only other time i have had that experiance is with Alienware (pre-dell buyout).

This is for consumer devices - not in a business enviroment, which is what this report is detailing, consumers not business (and how many enthusiasts are likely to take part in this survey?).

Only stating that my own personal experiance with consumer level devices is usually better with apple then dell, not stating that apple is better, but they do have better support (have 2 macs - both running windows 7 and Ubuntu 11.04).

I own a Dell laptop, and am overall satisfied with it. It is fast, reliable and has great specs for the price I paid. I am however, very upset at a long list of tiny details I have grown to hate about it: glossy screen, gets easily scratched, noisy fan, and a list of design decisions that I personally consider to be entirely wrong. Still is the best computer I've ever owned and is miles ahead of my previous HP tablet (piece of f*****g crap). I've never owned an Apple, and I'm seriously thinking about getting one, I really hope it is everything they've promised. I want to be satisfied with the build quality and materials. IF however, it turns to be a piece of crap, I'm sure as hell I will gladly voice my anger at any stupid-faced Apple fanboi zealot I come across.

Well, it also depends on the hardware. You don't get glossy screen in every configuration, if you get too powerful cpu or graphics card you get of course noisy fan.

Which describes a good many Apple customers nicely (at least the ones who answer surveys)

My experience in dealing with Apple for support on my wife's iPod touch was definitely mixed. Most of the CS reps have this snotty, self-important, condescending tone. A big turn-off!

[citation][nom]bystander[/nom]In the sales industry, such as car sales and in home sales, it's a known truth that your best referrals comes from those that spend the most money. If someone buys a car and gets a terrible deal on that car, they are likely going to be your best client for referrals. I've thought it's because they are trying to convince themselves that they paid extra for a reason.[/citation]

Actually, it's often the exact opposite. People who don't spend very much don't expect very much .....people who spend a lot, expect a lot. Check JD Power surveys and you'll see what I mean....Suburu is rated higher than BMW.

You can say you don't like Apple's Macs or other of their products and that's fair, not everybody have to like it, but people that say things like they aren't good enough products or overpriced are talking pure bullshit. You have to investigate deeper to make such kind of arguments. Apple uses the better components for their products, things that only you can notice when you own one of their products and after living with that for a period of time you can compare, that's why people that switches to Apple products never leaves them and become some kind of fanatic because they want to get more of that experience in their lives

You guys have to clean of your minds that a computer is only for geeks that always have to be on the edge, that's stressing and you'll end expending a lot of money in components that you barely enjoy because you are immerse in having the last great thing. People want machines to do things and they want them to just work.

Also, you have to talk with respect about a company like Apple, because most of the benefits you are enjoying in your shiny computers are because Apple has forced the changes to it, without them forcing the industry we could be using floppy disk, serial/parallel ports and the optical drives will never disappear.

Apple is a company with a vision way ahead of everything else and will never act based on how things are turning, their mission is to make things turn or better disappear. Their goal isn't create products to massive sales, is create the best products they believe in. First, love the product, then see if others love it to. Other companies doesn't have that spirit at all nor the guts to take those risk Apple is willing to take.

It is a company that everybody have to respect despite you like it or not.
