That is, until she says she wants something that doesn’t crash all the time, doesn’t get viruses and cause a bunch of headaches in general. Shocker, everyone leaves bar Justin Long.

I love the way people try to say Mac's "dont get viruses". Why would a virus creator make something that targets what.....1% of machines world wide? They go for the greater damage. Common sense.

And these stupid childish back-and-forth ads are getting old.

Indeed, people forget that virus creators want the biggest bang. And honestly, who would want to go after Macboys anyway? Would be far too easy to hack most likely.

[citation][nom]chripuck[/nom]I just dropped $1300 on a PC that kicks my friends new $2500 MacPro's ass. He's got those kickin Nvidia GT120's in SLI baby! I make plenty of money to buy that MacPro in cash right now if I want, but I prefer to spend my money wisely and not stupidly.[/citation]

Rrrrrnnnnngggg...Oops, there is the bell...time to come in from the playground and study some English.

Then do it. Time to put-up or shut-up. Oh, you can't do it...I see. Besides, they are not going after individuals per se...tell me, where are the Mac Girls?

Are you on drugs?

It is pathetically easy to hack macs. If you asked about ANYONE with any real knowledge of tech they would tell you that. But obviously you lack tech knowledge or you wouldn't be arguing this point.

Oh, nice double post too.

What are you talking about? I'm 28 and a professional in the IT industry, I'm on my lunch break tool bag.

[citation][nom]bill gates is your daddy[/nom]There is only one way to settle this....Thunderdome!!!Two men enters...One man leaves.Get Bill Gates and Steve Jobs in the freaking cage and let's be done with this. Instead of weapons like chainsaws and spears they can have PC and Mac parts hanging around.I would kill to see Steve swinging an iPod around his head like a savage and Bill standing there wearing a suit of armor built from MS keyboards. On a seperate note....am I the only one that thinks Bill is starting to look like Stephen Hawking? Slap him in a wheelchair and break his neck over and I would think it was Stephen's brother.[/citation]
Bill I disagreed with you on Blu Ray but you nailed it here... Spitting image of a 20 year younger, able bodied Hawking.

Then do it. People say this and that, but where is the proof? If it is so easy then why don't you do it.

Double posts? Try reading for content there fella...there were two different post.

Apparently you lack any skills in critical thinking, and logical discourse. If you had such, then you would cease with this drivel of yours!

Okay, so most of you don't get it... taken with a pinch of salt these new Apple adverts are really very funny. All ads are propagandistic, but some are propagenius and some are propadumb. Since "1984" Apple have commissioned some pretty slick ads and a few of these I''m a Mac" adverts fall into this category.

These hacks were done as a competition and were attacks against browsers, not the OS per se.[citation][nom]chripuck[/nom]What are you talking about? I'm 28 and a professional in the IT industry, I'm on my lunch break tool bag.[/citation]

Gee, I am sorry. All of this arguing over subjective matters reminds of my days on the school yard.

That was the point of my original post, I paid half what my friend did and I got a faster computer. Better is of course subjective as it always will be. I prefer saving a good chunk of money rather than go with OSX. That being said if they actually sold OSX to be installed on any PC I'd probably buy a copy.

Very few here will argue that Windows is better than OSX. What they will argue is the extreme amount of extra money needed to own a Mac isn't worth OSX.

We're also annoyed with Apple's flat out lies too. It's not virus proof, it's not invulnerable and it's no easier for a user to use than Windows (when you factor in the learning curve.)

what you talking about fool, it's already been done, google your favorite mac osx virus...

I find the Apple commercials humorous…

I feel bad for Ma and Pa who go to buy a computer but are ignorant and don’t relies apple is rubbish and flat out lying on their commercials. Apple is marketing to the uninformed computer user, not professionals as we know better.

Someone mentioned Apple owning on Consumer Reports… Buddy that report is a joke. Seriously, you buy from Dell or Apple don’t you? What do I care (IT Professional) what the general ignorant public thinks about computers? If those Consumer Reports were done by IT Professionals Mac’s would not exist.

Who cares about their commercials? I mean really Toms, you're reporting on commercials on a daily basis now?

It must be a REALLY slow news week...

I will, windows is FAR better than OSX. And I bet some others would agree.

1) You can buy OSX and install it on your home PC...
2) I will argue that Windows is better than OSX, I prefer Windows any day.

Mac ads are just a waste, anyways. When you consider that a PC can run literally millions of programs available from all over the world--crash free, and Apple is limited to what Steve Jobs thinks you need, it's obvious which system is more capable. Besides, if you use a PC for the same purpose as a Mac--email, casual web browsing, maybe some photo/video editing--when is the last time you had a PC crash? I can't think of any I've had since the Windows 95/98 years personally.

The PC guy is so cute*, I'm going to buy another one just because of that ;-)

More seriously, this ad campaign is getting to be a "yo mama" match. They used to be clever and edgy, but, just like the "yo mama" jokes, are now petty and unfunny at every level.

Yes, the PC needs (free) anti virus software and (free) system updates, but its not like the Mac is problem free or never needs patching. Apple still has a tenth the market share of Microsoft, so naturally you can expect 10x the number of complaints.

The laptop hunter ads distinctly told a story of "this is what I am looking for and how much I can spend." The Apple ads are basically saying you are stupid if you buy only what you need...Just tired of it, thats all. Tired and annoyed that it works on the general public.

*Not cute in a gay way, just adorable*

Actually, the legit studio sites are relatively safe. It's all the trashy gallery clip sites that are often infested. That and art sites with mature and adult submissions are also fine.

Not without a few "tricks" and not without technically breaking the law.

Windows is "better" because you're used to it and game development is created for it. Outside of DirectX (which is better than OpenGL) Windows isn't better in anyway. This of course does not apply to business computing which Mac is clearly deficient on.

lol glad to see someone who actually knows his porn!

Vista is already far less crash-happy and far more secure against malware and viruses (as long as you don't disable UAC like the whiners do) than any previous version of Windows. Now that the Windows 7 RC is socking it to Vista, I imagine we will see a fairly quick adoption of it by both XP and Vista users. When the majority of Windows PCs are running Windows 7, I'm guessing we'll see a significant reduction in the amount of infected systems.

Personally, I don't have much respect for any company whose sole marketing strategy is nothing but mere mudslinging. If your product isn't good enough to sell without badmouthing the competition every chance you get, then I have no interest whatsoever in buying it. Even if it was superior, I wouldn't buy it based on principle alone. Granted, Microsoft has had its share of questionable marketing tactics, but the Mac vs. PC ads from Apple are nothing but a collection of facts taken out of context and twisted into non-real-world scenarios.

The fact of the matter is, Windows is great, and so is Mac OS X. Choice is a good thing to have, and those are two great choices, depending on what you're looking for in a computer. Just stop the mudslinging already. These stupid commericals are making you all look like 6-year-olds bickering over whose toys are better. Promote your products based on how good they are, not how bad you think your competitors' products are.

Fool? Only a fool would look at the annual hackers conference on security and take that as real world data. Those guys gear-up for the event for an entire year to win $10k. Besides, they are not attacking the Mac OS, but vulnerabilities in the browsers. So, a couple of pro's do it, but where isn't everybody else doing it like you imply?
