[citation][nom]njkid3[/nom]nothing new just apple and all their delusions of grandeur.[/citation]

Had to quote this as it reflects what I was thinking.

[citation][nom]the_one111[/nom]Of course Apple forgets that 90% of the world uses windows..I really hate apple...[/citation]

So does Wall street. Apple stocks are trading ~ $190/share. They make ipods, iphones, and overpriced computers with antiquated hardware.

Those 3 quotes posted do not result in your misleading title; Apple did not say people will upgrade to Macs INSTEAD of Win 7, just that Apple's upgrade to Snow Leopard will beat Vista to 7. If anything, the subtitle should say, "Marcus seems confident". The link back to your much chastised article from just a few days ago with no real evidence of anything is also a classy move. I think I'm just going to stop clicking on anything that says "Apple" or "Microsoft" on Tom's news feed so I don't give this filth any more income. I own an Apple too Marcus, difference is that I don't toot my own horn on a "News" column, please stop.

"Any user that reads all those steps is probably going to freak out. If you have to go through all that, why not just buy a Mac?" says Schiller.

its funny that apple try to convince the world that macs are superior to pcs, then insult the pc users by saying they are to stupid to upgrade their own machine. " hey, you guys are dumb. here buy this instead." to me, macs are the jitterbug phone of the computing world. GREEN FOR ON, RED FOR OFF.

Yes! I'm going to ditch my lovely Windows because my point of sales software does not work on mac. I'm also ditching Internet Explorer because my job requires it due to how the sites we use are programmed. Oh yeah! Don't forget all my printers, USB signature pads, and other devices that need Windows to work. Cha! Apple is stuck in their own world. They are retarded.. (I work as a cell phone rep in case you are wondering about it all)

"Any user that reads all those steps is probably going to freak out. If you have to go through all that, why not just buy a Mac?" says Schiller.

How many steps does it take to upgrade from XP to OSX?

I don't know what it is about these articles that infuriates me so much? Apple's hardware does not bother me at all. Honestly, the concepts are awesome and I wish other companies would pick up on their strategy. But this whole reverse psychology thing is getting out of hand. It makes me hate the brand appeal and the fanboys that go along with it that much more. Apple, if the stigma of buying your products was not there, I'd probably be all over it. But your marketing team needs to get serious and quit it with the ego-trip. I'm going to Windows 7 - not only because it's the best OS Microsoft has released to date - but because I don't want anything to do with the image relayed by your products.

"Any user that reads all those steps is probably going to freak out. If you have to go through all that, why not just buy a Mac?" says Schiller.

LOL steps? It's not all that difficult. Setup screen, English, click hard drive, format, next, sit back and relax for about 15 - 20 minutes. Easiest windows of all time to install. I'd much rather do that than buy a 1000k+ pos.

"Any user that reads all those steps is probably going to freak out. If you have to go through all that, why not just buy a Mac?" says Schiller.

Maybe Schiller was the one that freaked out after looking at the upgrade chart, he didn't expect there to be so many options to upgrade where as with a Mac there's only one option to upgrade.

If the apple believes its OS to be superior to Windows or any of the various Linux versions (the OS is really modified Free BSD with the 'Snow Leopard' GUI anyway - think alternative to X Windows) then let them market it to install on any compatible equipment without the hardware limiter. They can even sell it for less than Windows 7 if they'd like. Then they can determine which is ?better?. The hardware (actually mostly the look and feel since the internals are nearly identical) isn't really any different than high end mainstream PC makers.

I don't get this... I am a Mac and Windows user, I like Mac much better but I still need both. If I had an aging XP machine and didn't want to upgrade it to 7 I would just buy or build one with 7 on it. Just because they may have to buy a new computer does not mean that it's going to be a Mac. It would still be easier to switch from XP to 7 than XP to Mac. Mac sales are growing and will continue to because people are seeing the value in Macs over a Windows PC. Also the build quality is much higher than cheap PCs and you tend to get what you pay for. I don't think Mac sales are growing because Microsoft keeps releasing new OSes. Windows 7 is great I just think it's what Vista should have been from day one. Going from XP to 7 would have been a real game changer for Microsoft.

I'm sorry, but I stick with XP for the mean time!
If I buy a new PC, I might have to choose between Vista or 7; then it's 7 for sure!
But I still have an OEM version of XP which I prefer over Vista, and over 7.

The switch to 7 is not going to be hard. It's just that I DON'T NEED an OS that is too overburdened with things, and on my laptop, I value battery life over anything else!
XP is quick, and my notebook runs cooler on it then on the RC of Win7, so I'm not planning to upgrade anytime soon!

Another thing is that the responsiveness of Win7 is very similar to Linux and MacOs.
WinXP is undoubtedly the most responsive of them all; my experience tells me so!
(at least, one that is optimized for performance).

MacOs? Forget that!
Those who use Windows stay with Windows!
MacOs is nothing but a big cover. You can't change anything underneath it!
It's too simple, and a change to MacOs from XP is much greater than one to Win7.

AppLe, when you will be red and generous so that everyone could install it on any machine they want, you just stay under my couch and grow...

I hate apple, Why EU is not hitting Apple like MSFT, i would life to see 10bln fine for APPlE, of course it would be the best if fine could come from US, money would stay here to support something i do not know, but they will stay in US:)

I'm waiting for openSUSE 11.2... No it won't run Crysis yet..., but TF2 & HL2 rock on it! And it's 100% cheaper than 7 or Leopard ;-P

I have a number of PCs. I have a macbook pro. I use em all. I built the PCs (except for the laptop) and was given the mac. Apple is dreaming. The mac in not easier to use if you already know the PC. Matter of fact, it's just annoying. I use XP and vista on my PCs. I hate vista. A lot. Also annoying. I'll look into putting win 7 on my vista laptop. No way I'll sully my well running old XP machine. I'll have to decide when I build my next desktop which OS to choose. I can tell you one thing though, I will not pay the apple tax. Not worth it to me. I know many of people from all walks of life who feel the same.

"Any user that reads all those steps is probably going to freak out. If you have to go through all that, why not just buy a Mac?"

lmao..Ok other than him just saying that he is incapable to do some basic things and finds them rather hard he is telling us that FINALLY that mac's OS got somewhat big actually update will prefer to get a mac just for that? Other than the fact that in reality Snow Leopard has nothing new and is basically the same OS as has been proved in way too many ways thus far. I dont get those people. At all... So im supposed to be getting a mac anytime soon and I was not aware of it? cool..

Schiller reasons that those running Windows XP machines may view the upgrade
to Windows 7 as too complicated and daunting, giving customers a reason to ditch PC for Mac instead.

Apple thinks PC users are like Mac people - they need their hands held.

[citation][nom]Spanky Deluxe[/nom]Most windows users don't 'upgrade' their Windows version after all. They tend to buy a whole new computer. I don't mean enthusiasts, of course, but then half of those will pirate Windows anyway. [/citation]
I was expecting an informed opinion until you pulled the pirating BS....

And their lives managed by others.
