[SOLVED] Are Dell XPS 8940 components interchangeable with Dell G5?

Hello everyone,

I currently own a Dell G5 gaming desktop, but I want to upgrade its GPU and PSU. Since the system uses propietary parts, I've decided to purchase the Dell XPS 8940 and swap out the PSU and GPU that it came with and install it into my G5 (then put my old PSU and GPU back in the XPS and sell it).

From my understanding, the XPS and G5 should be using the same propietary components since they both come from Dell, so I can't really foresee compatibility issues during the swap. Can anyone confirm if this is true? Does anyone have personal experience doing this?

I should think so, they even used the same rendering in their marketing images. Looks like they share a chassis and PSU layout.
