Are low voltage CPU's powerful enough?

Well Im looking around for laptops and most Im looking at seem to come with 1.2/1.3/1.4/1.5 ghz low voltage processors.

Are these going to be powerful enough for games such as Left For Dead 2, Sims 3 (casual gaming) and some compiling programs and some simple video conversion.

Yes, but they will be appropriately slow...

For gaming, even with such slow CPUs, the graphics card will still be more of an issue on the laptop.
Do you mean compiling programs like in C or C++? What kind of code? How much code?
Video conversion will not take minutes, but you could start, go for a cup of coffee, come back and it would be done.
