I was originally looking at the Vizio 2.1 Theater Sound Bar - V21-H8 until I read a user comment that the bluetooth feature could not be turned off. According to the post, his usage of the sound bar was frequently getting interrupted by requests to pair with someone else's device and forcing him to reset his device. Bluetooth is not essential to my use, so I'd prefer a sound bar that would at the very least allow me to turn it off completely. Does someone offer a sound bar like that?

FWIW, I prefer a simple 2.1 sound bar for use with a TV and pc in my living room to watch TV or listen to background music while reading. A 5.1 set up or more (surround sound) would be overkill. The main reason for me getting the sound bar is to make it easier for me to listen to dialog when watching TV. Price is also a restriction for me, but I am flexible. I just don't want other people to accidentally or intentionally have access to my equipment. I currently have a Creative Stage V2 2.1 sound bar for my primary desktop and have been satisfied with it. But the cord length for the subwoofer is not long enough to reach where I could place the subwoofer for use with my TV and secondary pc.
Thanks

Mine has BT but you have to change the input to that to connect something . it's never tried to connect on its own so they def make them

I'd have to check my model # when I get home for you but I pretty much use mine the way you intend n it does the job perfectly . Connect my phone for music on BT or tv/pc movie watching

looking at what i have, it's this model

i'm very happy with it. i'm pretty sure most would do this but i love that all i did was plug the optical output from my tv to it and it plays everything through the soundbar no matter what source it is from. no set-up at all, just plug and play. i don't have to select a source on the sound bar itself unless i want to change it to BT for my phone. just plays whatever is coming from the tv at the moment. cable, pc, console, roku.....

i just leave it turned on and when i turn on the tv, it's playing the sound. have not turned it up all the way, but it can def get louder than my neighbors would be willing to put up with. lol

The whole point of having more than a 2.1 soundbar is that you can adjust the center channel, which is where the voices come from, and make it louder than the other channels. Unfortunately they do not sell any 3.1 sound bars so we have to resort to using 5.1 sound bars to increase the center voice channel. You should download the user manual for whatever sound bar you're considering to identify those where you can boost the center channel to help you hear the voices.

I think I actually have that same sound bar and like it pretty well. I have my sub across the room beside a chair and it will rattle the floor. I once turned it way up and it was clear but to the point I was almost afraid of blowing a speaker in it.

I’ve got mine connected with the hdmi arc port. I’ve got a roku stick plugged into my TV and have it set that when I turn on the TV the roku stick is powered by a USB port on the TV so it boots up and the sound bar powers on and I can control everything with the roku remote unless I want to tweak the sound settings. But usually if I want to play something off my phone I can cast it or we can get Amazon music on the roku. Or you can play CDs through the blu ray player or change to Bluetooth. For the money it sounds good I think.

That's how I think of it myself. Great bang for the buck.

I'm also a bit hard of hearing like op and I had to finally turn on closed captions for certain things. Foreign accents are hard for me and of course the trend of super quiet dialog followed by 200db chase scene.

Rather than annoy the whole house with loud tv I just learned to embrace the captions

One of my better deals that I’m proud of is an onn sound bar with sub that I got on eBay open box for like 30 bucks a year or so ago. Couldn’t get hdmi arc working but optical did, and for the money I couldn’t complain. Not to the level of the Sony but for 30 bucks lol.

Found it actually. That’s what it would be new. Somehow I got it for 29 bucks refurbished or something. No complaints for that price. If you’ve got the money the Sony is clearly better. We will be watching a movie or show with surround sound enabled and you might feel like you are hearing bullets or cars pass you.

Edit the URL is below that asks robot or human, I have no idea why they show the link that way.
