On boot, with F2 this board brings up a "UEFI" screen and the manual says it is legal American Megatrends UEFI BIOS ( version P8.0 )
  • BUT
running "WHYNOT11" says the boot method is legacy, not UEFI

  • there is a secure boot option on the UEFI screen, "use this to enable windows 8.1 secure boot"
    BUT
    • WHYNOT11 says there is no secure boot enabled even when the UEFI setting says it is enabled
  • there is Intel (R) platform trust technology (PTT) -"disable this to enable a discrete TPM module"
  • There is an option "security device support" that "enables BIOS support for security device"
Is this motherboard UEFI ?
Will it boot from a GPT system disk?

Is this motherboard UEFI ?
The BIOS for the motherboard is;
https://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/H110M-DVS R2.0/#Specification
yes.

Will it boot from a GPT system disk?
Yes but if your current OS install is under MBR, you will have boot up issues.

Just curious, is CSM enabled in your BIOS? If so, then disable it, then reinstall your OS if your current OS install was with CSM enabled and your OS partition style is MBR.

your answer raises three questions
(i am not a Jesuit*)

-- Do do I understand that if I change the partition from mbr to gpt, it might not boot?

-- Would i be able to restore the disk (ssd) to mbr, from an "AOMEI backupper" system image backup (winpe)? (i.e. does image restore rebuild the mbr partition table?)

-- what is CSM?
thanks in advance

*reputedly if you ask a Jesuit one question, he asks 3 questions back.
