Quick question.

I am getting Toughliquid Ultra 360 AIO. The whole unit comes with very nice static fans but I want to replace them with RGB FANS.
From what I understand my Asus board (new Z690 model) has CPU_FAN and CPU_OPT for radiator fans as well as W_PUMP header for AIO pump.

So here is the question.

Instead of using CPU_FAN header can I use ARGB header to connect my 3 radiator ARGB fans (mobo comes with ARGB 1 to 3 splitter) and call it a day. Basically, can I tell the motherboard "hey these 3 ARGB fans are my radiator AKA CPU fans"?

Also if it's a viable solution can anyone recommend ARGB Gen 2 static pressure fans ? I am looking at these units but i don't know if they're Gen 2 or not

Thank you!

No.

If you do that, you can control your fan LEDs but fans won't spin. You need to connect both cables, 4-pin to power the fan and 3-pin for LEDs.

ARGB Gen 2

Gen 2? What's that? Define it please.

I am looking at these units but i don't know if they're Gen 2 or not

Those fans have very bold claims in terms of their performance. 94 CFM with 4.6 mmH2O. That isn't unheard of, but when looking at the fan itself, namely fan blades, there are so much gap between the blades that i don't think they actually reach the claimed 4.6 mmH2O. 0.6 mmH2O is more reasonable...

Official specs, however, differ from Egg listing. Claiming only 3.7 mmH2O as static pressure,
specs: https://www.iceberg-thermal.com/product/case-fan/icegale-argb-120-mm/

Even 3.7 mmH2O is bold claim for it.

For example, look at Corsair ML120 Pro LED fan blades;
specs: https://www.corsair.com/us/en/Categ...pro-led-config/p/CO-9050042-WW#tab-tech-specs

It has big, fat fan blades with small gaps between blades and it is designed for static pressure, where it can do 4.2 mmH2O with 75 CFM airflow, at 2400 RPM. <- Now, that is reasonable.
