ASUS P5S-VM Motherboard

After rummaging through boxes of hardware I came across a motherboard like this with a SiS 530. The "Y2K tested" logo gave it away that it was nowhere near modern, however how strong is it? With a Socket 7 processor fit I'm limited to a select few, though it already has an AMD K6-2 processor which MIGHT run something like Windows XP for example.

So in other words, all I want to know is how far can I take it? And on a side note, what is a powerful Socket 7 CPU?

I'd look for one of --- AMD-K6-2 475AHX or a K6-3 550....

As long as you have enough ram it will run XP, or you can have some fun with it and get a copy of SP3 for Win98SE it is on MSFN forums and lets you run a lot of XP software, check it out its pretty cool.

I was planning on using somewhere between Win 95-2000. Possibly OS/2 even. Thanks for the info though, I have an extra case lying around and decided I could make a use of these spare parts.
