What sata port do I plug my SDD into?
I just built a pc and had some lingering questions on my ASUS P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 LGA 1155 Intel Z68 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard with UEFI BIOS

I have a 128 mb SSD with my OS and a 500 gb drive for storage.

Everything is plugged in now and works fine, but before my bios screen it reads (no hard drive found!) but boots up just find.

I have the following ports

(2) Marvell (R) Serial ATA 6.0 Gbs/s connectors (Navy blue) (Sata6g_e1, Sata6g_e2)
(2) Intel (R) z68 Serial ATA 6.0 GB/s (Grey) (Sata6g_1) (Sata6g_2)
(4) Intel (R) z68 Serial ATA 3.0 Gb/s (Blue)(Sata6g_3) (Sata6g_4) (Sata6g_5) (Sata6g_6)

At first I had it plugged in to the Intel (R) z68 Serial ATA 3.0 Gb/s (Blue), but saw the 3.0 Gb/s and plugged it into the Intel (R) z68 Serial ATA 6.0 GB/s (Grey)...

It still reads the same "No Hard DRive found!", but again it boots up like normal.

That board is a little wierd because the dark blue ports are shared with the external ports. So if external sata is on (default is on) those dark blue ports wont work. If external sata is off then they will work.

For best performance plug your ssd into the 6gb white ports, Plug your DVDs and older Hard drives into the 3gb light blue ports.

As you listed it is the order, Marvell on the top closet to the CPU. Use the Intel SATA ports, if both the SSD and HDD are SATA3 then use the 2nd row or Intel SATA3 port. Marvell ports don't show-up in the BIOS.

Next, I assume in the BIOS that the ports are not Disabled and SATA is set to AHCI; note page 3-18 of the manual.

The (no hard drive found!) can refer to the other empty SATA ports, but without seeing what you see it's tough to assume.

I dont have white ports... You mean grey...

These ones?
So I will plug in my SSD into the second row down in the first plug in.
(2) Intel (R) z68 Serial ATA 6.0 GB/s (Grey) (Sata6g_1)

I will then plug in my HDD right next to the SSD
(2) Intel (R) z68 Serial ATA 6.0 GB/s (Grey) (Sata6g_2)

Dont use the dark blue. Set them to External in the bios then you can use the sata ports on the back of the board if you like.

I have the same board an on mine the grey are white. Use the grey for the SSD because it is 6gb transfer speed. You can use the other grey for the HD if you like but the HD cant transfer at 6gb so it wont help.

Light blue can be used for anything but because they are only 3gb they are best suited for old HDs and CD-DVD.
