Haha...good point. My system needs a bit more ventilation to that end. This build is pretty strange considering NOBODY would spend $900 for the CPU+mobo and go cheap on everything else.

Dac's No Frills Big Chills X79-R1

Motherboard + Processor COMBO: ASUS Sabertooth X79 + Core i7-3930K: $894.98

CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO: $34.90
w/ Cooler Master LGA2011 Bracket Free Upgrade Program
I can't see why anyone would waste money on a closed-loop water cooling system when this performs on par for way less.

RAM: Super Talent DDR3-1600 8GB (2x 4GB) x2: $83.98
Protip: RAM modules without gaudy obstructive heat spreaders cool slightly better, so these are very "cool" indeed.
Four modules minimum for quad channel on X79.
Don't let the "Value" designation fool you. Super Talent makes some serious no-frills RAM. Given the choice, I only buy Super Talent memory. Also, you don't always get the exact modules depicted. Some actually come with black PCBs like these, which look so sick.

Graphics Card: ASUS NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti: $244.99
I honestly would not settle for anything less for a X79 build like this. Of course there are cheaper 560 Tis, but Asus is Asus.

Hard Drive: Crucial m4 64GB SSD 2.5": $115.95
Crucial makes reliable SSDs with solid performance with 64GB being the lowest I'll ever go in terms of a boot storage drive.

Power Supply: FSP Group AURUM GOLD 500W: $93.99
In this day and age the quality-freak in me would not settle for anything less than 80+ Gold efficiency, which is a true mark of quality and value. And the fact that it looks really cool doesn't hurt either.

Case: Cooler Master CM-690 II Advanced RC-692-KKN2: $87.55
And finally everything is stuffed into what can only be described as the coolest case in the universe. With everything you need and nothing that you don't, coupled with sleek, minimalist lines with near-ideal airflow, this is really the epitomy of no frills and big chills.

Total: $1556.34

This is my ideal build and I simply couldn't cut corners seeing as how the pure quality and sheer value of every component more than justifies an extra Benjamin. I think a truly cool build weighs in quality and value equally with budget.

MB and chip: i would have picked the sabertooth anyway 894.98
Ram: 16gb 4 channel kit low voltage should save some power while still getting 1600mhz 94.99
Graphics: went with a 6850 less power and noise then nvidia alternatives 159.99
SSD: 40gb is more then enough for a boot drive and also usues only 2w active 64.99
Optical: the samsung drive i have now i bought in 05 and it still works great so i would get another 18.99

Should be very cool operating. 7 120mm case fans, a good CPU cooler, RAM cooler for a little extra cooling, and all relatively low temp components 😀

Hey Forum guys, what's going on! Here's the system a whipped up in 10 minutes, this will easily play any game today which is what I would assume a system of this calibre would be doing. I hope you like it! (Prices are as found on Newegg.

Processor: Intel i7 3930K ($600)
Motherboard: ASUS Saber tooth X79 ($340)
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8g (2x4g) ($45)
GPU: ASUS 6950 DCUII 2g (will be unlocked to 6970) ($290)
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 500g 7200rpm ($90)
Case: Thermal Take V3 Black Edition ($45)
PSU: OCZ ModXstream 600W Modular 80+ ($75)
Cooling: Cooler Master Hyper 212+ EVO ($35)
DVD Burner: LG DVDRIVE ($15)
Total: $1535

In conclusion this is a fully functional system only missing an os and peripherals. If I were to build this I would be unlocking 6950 shaders to make the 6950 into a 6970. This system would be able to play any modern day games i.e BF3, Skyrim on max settings relatively smoothly. It will also be able to perform everyday tasks with ease. Thanks Tom;s Hardware and I hope you enjoy my build!

I read through the rules found the lowest prices, on rule based components and then re-read all the recent Articles on graphics cards, hard drives, cases and power supplies. I took those in to consideration, then added the noise reduction and some cool effects with wire sleaving the sound active cold UV. Set your Base right next to your CPU and it will flash UV when ever you frag someone. The UV is neat yet not too annoying. Additionally I ran a couple power supply seizers to make sure I have the power supply necessary. And if I had a dollar and forty-eight cents more I would have opted to go with the UV-Green Noise reduction kit, Alas the black will have to do, the well has run dry.

Because you have 1 day to get that price, which really isnt available to all and you have to be subscribed to the shell shocker deals.

This way, it is available to anyone within the immediate future.

Mad Wulf's Build
Processor/Motherboard: ASUS Sabertooth X79 Motherboard and Intel Core i7 3930K LGA 2011 combo - $894.98
RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (4 x 2GB) - $59.99
Graphics Card: ASUS GeForce GTX 550 Ti - $129.99
Hard Drive: Western Digital Caviar Black 750GB SATA 3.0Gb/s - $149.99
Case: Antec Lanboy air - $139.99

Cooling: COOLER MASTER Hyper 212+ w/ free mounting bracket for LGA 2011 - $25.99
DVD Burner: LITE-ON SATA DVD Burner - $18.99

Total build price $1,499.91! This would make an all around good system. If more money was available, a SSD boot disk, a second 120mm fan for the heatsink, more memory, and another graphics card would make this a killer system! The Lanboy air case should make this the coolest system! 😱

Notes
If I could build this system I would be cannibalizing my current system for a second GTX 460 and a hard drive. I think the build has enough to stand on its own even though I sacrificed graphics power for cooling.

Good catch. Fixed. Thanks!
