ATA 100 and DVD combo

Hello everyone, first post. I recently purchased an ASUS A7V133 Mainboard, an IBM Deskstar ATA100 7200RPM 46.1GB HD, and a Toshiba 16x DVD-ROM Drive. I was wondering, if I put both of those devices on the same controller, HD as master, will it slow my HD down to DMA/33 (or whatever my DVD drive runs at)? Or should I set the Hard Drive up on the Primary controller and the DVD Drive up on the Secondary? Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks,
Dave

It won't slow it down to ATA33, but it'll slow it down when both devices are in use. I recommend you set up hard drive as primary and DVD as secondary.
