ATI drivers issue

I downloaded the latest driver, CCC, etc... updates for my Radeon 3870. After running the install, I restarted the pc, as per instructions, only to find that the computer won't get through POST. There's a long beep followed by two short beeps. That diagnostic code suggests that it's a gpu hardware issue. I'm wondering, what could those updated drivers have done?

Power off and reseat the video card in the slot.
