Hey, I would really appreciate some help with this, thank you.

So this has been going on for 6 week or so, but I have it narrowed down to two components, my CPU or GPU. My computer was in an automatic repair loop, reinstalled windows, updated BIOS and then it was in an automatic restart loop and took 5 minutes to boot up each time, usually took like 10 seconds.

The Event Viewer shows Error logs WHEA Logger ID 18, reported by processor core, Machine Check Exception with different APIC IDs each time. I brought it to a local computer shop that said my HDD was on its way out (OS is on an SSD).

Bought two new HDDs, tried the OS on one and its the same issue so I know it's not the SSD. Tried swapping the RAM and issue still persists (RAM is 3600MHz sticks and 3600MHz in Task Manager, but defaults to 2400MHz in BIOS?)

Replaced the motherboard (not sure of BIOS version on this one), now it boots fast but still has a restart loop. I can stop the restart loop by disabling the GPU drivers, but then I can't game or put the GPU under load. After enabling GPU drivers it'll restart in 0-30 minutes, then restart constantly until it figures out to disable the GPU drivers or I get a chance to disable them myself. With the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter there's no automatic Restarts and it works fine for display, I'm just not able to put it under load because the MBDA isn't supported by solidworks/games.

Replaced the PSU with an RM850x incase it was a power delivery issue and it is still happening. Ran DDU today and reinstalled latest GPU drivers, still restarts sporadically. I just want to know if its software, the CPU or GPU. Whenever I try using WinDbg to read the LiveKernelReports>WATCHDOG it says there's "No export analyze found".

Upgraded my computer in April 2021, ran perfect and then out of nowhere this started at the start of October.

Here's my build:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800x
Motherboard: ASUS RoG Strix B550-F Gaming
RAM: HyperX Fury 32GB (2 x 16GB) 3600MHz DDR4
GPU: Sapphire Radeon R9 390 NITRO 8gb
Storage: 2 × 2TB Seagate HDD, 480GB Kingston SSD PSU: Corsair RM850X
Case: bequiet! Silent Base 802
Cooler: Dark Rock Pro 3
OS: Windows 10 64 bit (not activated due to rebuild)

Any and all help is appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Solution
Just unplug, or turn off your wifi from internet, then install the drivers. The windows version could be the issue. If you have windows defender activated that is the best, imho, for windows. If not use this free version of bitdefender. But I recommend to uninstall it after use.
Could you check and see what your BIOS version on the Asus Strix motherboard is? Also, what version(not edition) of Windows 10 are you working with? Right click Start>System, the version should be shown at the bottom of the new window. Might I ask where you sourced the bootable installer for your OS? What PSU were you working with prior to the Corsair RM850x?

By upgrade what were the specs before the upgrade? Which slots are the ram sticks populating on the motherboard?

Yes I agree Lufij it could be your bios version, there are many updates. You can find the version number on the bios front pafe, ussally in the upper left hand corner of the page. Since disabling your gpu drivers seem to fix your problem temporarily, your gpu could be suspect. I would try updating your bios step by step until the problem clears and not just jumping to the latest one. Also a strong virus / malware check is in order

Hi Lutfij,

Thank you for the reply. I updated the bios on the previous B550 Strix and it didn't help, the BIOS on the replacement Strix is 1202 x64. My Windows Version is 21H1. I sourced the bootable media off of the Microsoft website. My previous PSU was an RM650X. Ram is in the slot closest to the 24pin connector and the third one from that edge. I don't know the number of the slots we'll so say is its 1234 the ram is in slots 2 and 4.

Previous build was an ITX maximus board with an i5 6600k and 16gb 2400mhz ram. I upgraded everything in April except PSU and GPU. It was running like a dream until the start of October and then the issues started.

Thank you for replying and I appreciate any help you can offer.

Hi Fix_that_glitch,

Thanks for the reply. I'm not great with computers, would the fact that disabling the drivers eliminates the problem not indicate that it's a software issue?

I've ran ddu again last night and while downloading 2019 drivers it automatically installed new drivers, even tho I've already disabled "automatically install drivers" in system settings. Is there a way around the automatic install so that I can install old drivers that won't be updated?

Also, what malware check should I use?

Thanks again!
